The Bengals playoff dreams have come crashing down. We now have word that offensive coordinator Jay Gruden will be staying in Cincinnati for 2012, but defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer might be on his way to his first head coaching gig in his storied NFL coaching career.
So talk about that, talk about the impending offseason, or this weekend's divisional playoff games. The floor is yours.

Getting Jay back is huge
If Zimmer leaves then my favorite to replace him would be Del Rio. Anyone else think there is a better candidate?
Tampa_Bengal - January 10, 2012
I like that
I actually always like Del Rio….I like his personality and passion…He had a few competitive teams over the years…
ticalcaldwell - January 10, 2012
I've liked Del Rio for a long time
He seems to always put out a top flight defense and really gets them pumped up
Helmsy - January 10, 2012
I agree... :)
pemci - January 10, 2012
I think it was Reedy who said most likely is either
Coyle or Del Rio

*liked
ticalcaldwell - January 10, 2012
personally, I would like Del Rio too
and to take over for player personnell…Jim Tressel, the guy could evaluate talent, especially h.s. and college

and be completely dishonest
and lie about virtues of being truthful. Exactly what Bengals need. Another snake.
KSE - January 10, 2012
lie about virtues of being truthful
what the hell does that mean??lol
ticalcaldwell - January 10, 2012
well, to be fair
these players are allowed to get paid, doubt he would have to worry about them trading memorabillia for tats, it’s not like he was covering up a pedophillia ring or something…;)

Just Wanted to give Larkin props for making the HOF.
Bout damn time! I have always been a big Reds fan and Larkin was one of my favs. I’ll never forget that 90 season. No one gave’em a chance and they broke out the broom on the A’s. Good times, good times.

agreed and rec'd
joeb69 - January 10, 2012
Now they just need to let Pete Rose in the HOF

+1
My first ever reds game, I saw him hit 3 homers and almost a 4th. He was my favorite for a long time….
ticalcaldwell - January 10, 2012
best year in Cincy sports
except for 1975.
occams_tiger_teeth - January 10, 2012
I thought this was the first or 2nd time on the ballot?
TCfromDubVee - January 10, 2012
3rd I think
Helmsy - January 10, 2012
Yep 3rd time

Del Rio
I like Spagnola. Ran 4-3 in for Giants that Super Bowl winning year. Don’t know if he landed yet. I would be shocked if Zimmer gets a HC job. He is a little “raw” to be a head coach in my opinion.
Mulchman - January 10, 2012
Spags looks like he's going back to Philly.
Although he may interview here. Del Rio seems more realistic given his past with Marvin. It’s the same past that may mean Del Rio heads to ATL as well.
KSE - January 10, 2012
I wouldn't be "shocked" to see him get a HC job
because he is well respected as a coach, to have such a year as we had with short offseason and integrating three free agent starters along with all our young guys, is a noteworthy accomplishment. Hell our D was this good last year when we went 4-12 and kept us in games our qb just couldn’t take care of the football.
keithster - January 10, 2012
It would BE a shock for certain though.
keithster - January 10, 2012
So I heard the LSU Tigers were stuck in New Orleans
because someone painted a 50 yard line in front of the bus.
Oregonbengalsfan - January 10, 2012
lol! but boo as well
keithster - January 10, 2012
Lmao!
Maybe someone will tell them it’s the 4th quarter so they can finally cross it.
Bigcatdaddy - January 10, 2012 via Android app
Okay
I actually laughed out loud at that one!
spif - January 11, 2012
He is a great DC
Just because he is well respected doesn’t make him HC material. Lots of great coaches aren’t HC. Best DC in his era and maybe ever, Dick Le beau, was a terrible HC. Buddy Ryan was mediocre at best and he had way better defenses than Zimmer. Hey, I love Zimmer. Hope he stays.
Mulchman - January 10, 2012
Based on the intensity with which the defense plays
is enough for me to take a chance on him, True, with Lebeau. But if Lebeau hadn’t already had a chance at HC, he would also be a top candidate this year also.
keithster - January 10, 2012
and the fact that he is 107 years old
Helmsy - January 10, 2012
Crocker and Pacman didn't look to intense to me
Crocker misses sack, drops easy pick six and looks like a bitch on Fosters stiff arm. Jones gets schooled on a double move and didn’t look like he wanted any part of tackling anybody. It was a PLAYOFF GAME!
Mulchman - January 10, 2012
Somebody said this earlier.....
But I too kind of think Zimmer has hit his ceiling as our DC. I think some fresh blood, concepts, and competition would be a good thing. I don’t have names, but somebody with a little experience, and some passion.

SI's Perloff has his mock draft up
Has us taking Richardson then Claiborne in the first.
Bigcatdaddy - January 10, 2012 via Android app
Wow
That would be awesome
SCbengalsfan - January 11, 2012 via mobile
Love the fact the Gruden will be coming back....
Love it, love it, love IT!
pemci - January 10, 2012
Mark Davis' Hair...
How do you even explain this to the hair stylist?
Israeli - January 10, 2012
WHAT?!?!?
Oregonbengalsfan - January 11, 2012
Oh please, oh please don't let the NFL drug test him this week...
… oh wait, he’s not our problem anymore— go ahead.
emeybee - January 11, 2012
I don't recall
Cedric Benson being in Tecmo Bowl…
spif - January 11, 2012
So now
We can understand why he looks so pissed on the sidelines. He’s completely delusional.
SCbengalsfan - January 11, 2012 via mobile
Did anyone see this???
Ha ha ha!!!!

Loved this one...
But as I went to the Houston game, can also sympathize with anyone in that situation who may have wanted to punch out that sign.
