Confirmed: Bengals Sign Jay Gruden To A Three-Year Extension

Soon after Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden decided not to interview for any head coaching opportunities (notably with the Jacksonville Jaguars and St. Louis Rams), an Orlando television station reported that Gruden signed a three-year extension worth $3.6 million. Though the team hasn't confirmed the signing, Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer confirmed it through a league source.

Star-divide

Gruden earned much praise this year, not just for his role in developing rookie quarterback Andy Dalton and wide receiver A.J. Green, rather doing it during an NFL lockout that prevented coaches from speaking with players.

The continuity of Gruden's decision to stay could have massive implications during the development period between Dalton's rookie and sophomore seasons, generally the period many NFL players begin taking tremendous strides. Guys like Jermaine Gresham, A.J. Green and Andy Dalton will largely benefit behind a full offseason with Gruden at the offensive helm.

The only question remaining in regards to the team's coaching staff is whether or not Mike Zimmer takes a head coaching job. Unfortunately the entire world is waiting on Jeff Fisher.

The best OC to where a Bengal uniform sense Coslet

I dont think he makes it 3 years without taking a HC job

Mike Brown gave him a raise?!!

Other than the JJoe debacle, Mike Brown has made some uncharacteristicly good decisions this past year. Is this really him, or was he assassinated and replaced with a body double? There has to be some sort of mistake. With all of the bad decisions he has made over the years I guess it is inevitable that he accidentally makes a few right ones now and again.

But I don't think it is an accident.

I think someone FINALLY got him to see the light, or he has turned some of the decision making over to others, which either way, I hope it continues, and I am willing to give the guy some credit for whats going on. We are laying a solid foundation.
