The latest on former Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher is this. With his choice reportedly narrowed down to the Miami Dolphins and the St. Louis Rams, Fisher "is making sure he has an ideal situation" but more noticeably, neither side has "yet to make an offer" according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Reports seem to vary, favoring the St. Louis Rams one day and the Miami Dolphins the next. But as Cincinnati Bengals fans, supporting a team with a solid coaching foundation during another redevelopment process, why should we care?

Star-divide

Frankly as we understand it, Fisher is the favorite for both head coaching positions. It's just a matter of which team he chooses. Once that happens, other head coaching vacancies should move relatively quickly.

And that'll be around the time that we learn about Mike Zimmer's future with the Bengals. Along with being a serious candidate for the head coaching position in Miami, Zimmer has been mentioned as a candidate for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where defensive coordinator Wade Phillips is getting serious attention despite preparing the Houston Texans defense for this weekend's divisional game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Zimmer is entering the final year of a three-year extension that he signed in 2010.

Nooooo

We need Zimmer back. He is one of the best DCs in the league. None of this would be happening if Mike Brown would let Marvin be the freaking GM!! We all know he is the GM in everything but the name, just “promote” him and let Zim be the HC, Gruden the OC, and whoever Zim is confortable with as the DC. In Zim we trust.

AZBengal18, I Couldn't agree with you more!!

Is the only thing holding this move back………………

The relinquishing of power to Marvin…..OR……………The paycheck related to it???

Jack Del Rio as DC?

Sounds like the perfect scenario, which is why it won’t happen. Brown may be changing his ways, but this is more like glacier movement, not Formula Un (GIl Girard voice).

even if we keep Zim

we should get Del Rio in here in some capacity, say…Linbackers coach!!!

I'd be good with that
well

the way our backers play leaves alot to be desired, not sure if it’s coaching or them (I’d bet coaching) and if my memory serves me correctly, he coached R. Lewis in Baltimore when he came into the league and did a fine job for Marv in B-more

i wouldnt mind del rio as the lb coach

doubt marvin would dump Jeff FitzGerald thou

yeah that is his guy from Baltimore
He doesnt seem to be doing that great of a job
that's not "his guy"

Fitzgerald came in after Marvin to be the Linebackers coach, at least that’s what it says on the wikipedia link above

Great idea you got here Joe
I still dont see Zimm going to Miami

If you go to the blogs…no one wants the Bengals D coordinator in Miami…They want a name that will sell tickets..period…I just highly doubt that he will go there…Although…I am prepared for some crow…this is the NFL

i dont see it either

But like you said, anything is possible.

zim wants to be a headcoach

if the job offer should fall to him, he wont say no. agree he’s the long shot in this race. just hoping stupid fisher doesn’t take 4 weeks to make up his mind. then all the other names will have jobs, leaving zimmer out there to be had.

this is true

Zimm would and should say yes to a HC position…time is the enemy as you said….

yep

Zim deserves to be a head coach, and I wish him the best where ever be goes, unless its Pittsburgh, Baltimore, the jets, or the patriots.

Or the Browns.
i feel for the browns

I hope they win every game unless they play cincy.

It seems to me that if Fisher takes the Miami job then Zimmer stays

Doesn’t seem like St. Louis wants a defensive coach, and I haven’t even heard about ZImmer talking to Tampa. I hope we have our ducks in a row no matter what, though.

I hate to say this

But I think Indy could still be a dark horse in pursuing Zimmer if they end of letting Cladwell go, which could still happen.

Fisher is waiting on Caldwell to be fired in INDY

I think its a no brainer for Zimmer to get a shot,he is way over qualified
Sorry for the shot, but if he were a minority he would have had a HC job years ago

Miami's no second-tier small market HC job

That’s a primetime market. AFC East, major free agent destination, solid history. St. Louis is a bit of a wildcard (and who wants to move to St. Louis?) but Miami would be a no brainer. Zim isn’t turning down an offer from anyone, though. This is his dream. Best we can hope for is that he gets short changed again. Hate to think that way, but I like our coach.

Falcons offense from bad to worse

Poor Falcons fans get to deal with one of our worst nightmares now. I see they promoted Bob Bratkowski to OC.
Man are they in for a surprise. lol

Jags not Falcoms.
he's their new QB coach, not OC
Brat is now the Jags OC

He was the Falcons QB coach this past season

Come on Zim.

Tell the Fins where to go. Tell them you are not gonna wait around on them and Fisher to see if you have a shot, then you can coach our D to the Super Bowl and show them what they missed out on. Its a win/win, we get you for longer and you get teams fighting over you for a HC job, which equals a bigger check. :)
