Open Thread: Friday Night Fever, Baby

Even though the Bengals season is over, there's been a lot going on this week to talk about. Offensive Coordinator Jay Gruden has opted to stay with the Bengals, though defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer may be on his way out to a head coaching position.

Looking ahead, we've posted the 2012 free agents and talked about some underclassmen declaring for the draft. There's also the "Tebow Bowl" this weekend and a slate of three other good matchups.

So, talk about what you want and take us into the weekend.

WHO DEY!

Have a good weekend fellas. ;-)

Hope Zimmer stays put.

Ross is an idiot for taking Ireland over Fisher. Basically Ireland has done nothing since beiing there. No QB, no solid O-line, and a mediocre defense. Hope Zim doesn’t inherit that mess.

Hope Zim doesn't get Bucs job.....

but he definitely could be a strong candidate. We’ve got Gruden staying put, c’mon Zim….let’s get after it one more time next year!

Besides.......

he may end up being head coach here if we tank next year.

Thats a BIG IF!!!!!!

Better scenario,he may end up being coach here, when Marv takes over GM

Amen!
amen!!!
Amen here also.

I can not see a better way to go.

Still think he could be a dark horse with Indy as well

Depending on what the new GM decides to do with Caldwell

I don't give the Broncos much of a chance this weekend.

But I said the same thing before they played the Steelers. The biggest difference, though, is that the Pats have shown they match up well with the Broncos by beating them down in the regular season.

Pats 38, Fighting Tebows 14

Somehow Tebow will keep this game interesting........

the refs might call the game one sided to keep Denver in it or something. The NFL would love nothing more than to keep the Tebows playing a little longer.

Ya,Thats what they always do

Just give there team credit, you sound like the Ravens defense after a loss

I do give their team credit.........

just not all to Tebow. Their D has played extremely well. Miller and Dumerville are extremely tough, they’ve made just as big an impact. That is what irritates me, it’s not just him. I hope they make it interesting and hang around until the 4th quarter…….

That will make for a great game,i'm with you there

Running for 5 YPC on first down helps a bunch too.

Dumerville is the shiznit

I like that ol’ Elvis. He was a stud in college and got overlooked by a lot of teams in the draft. 4th round gold just like Atkins.

Hope Moch eventually turns out to be a poor man's......

Von Miller. Pair him up with Dunlap, Atkins, MJ, etc………and we’ll have our own force to be reckon with. Just got to get him out there first. Gotta crawl before you can walk.

Amen brother
Remember with Dumervil

Did he not drop a ton oin the draft due to being ejected in his bowl game for fighting? I see the same thing happening to the Jeffries (sp) kid from South Carolina this year.

Turnover's made the difference in that game

I think the weather, might end up being the deciding factor

Texans or Ravens?

Who do we cheer for the Texans, who knocked us out of the play-offs, or the Ravens who we despise simply because they’re in the AFC North? I think I’ll ask Sam Adams because he seems to be filling my brain cells with invaluable knowledge tonight.

texans

can’t root for the ravens

+1

Gotta go Houston, just not in my DNA to cheer for the Ravens.

it's funny how we all brag about having 3 teams in our division.

but once we lose we root against the other afcn teams lol.

3 teams in playoffs that is
bc it legitimizes our division

As one of,if not THE toughest division in the NFL…. After the cards are dealt I’d rather the steelers and ravens get knocked out than go deep. Growing up I learned I’d much rather lose to the eventual champ than some chump team like her Tebows. I’m sure others had similar experiences too. With all the injuries the Texans have had this year, it’d be a great story for them to win it all (minus the fact that j-Jo is a probowler and instantly legitimized that secondary- thats still to fresh to not sting)

We have the toughest division in football.......

3 teams in the playoffs seals the deal on that argument. That’s when the warm and fuzzy feelings stop……..down with B-more. I’ll root for the AFC in the Super Bowl, but I can’t root for those two teams we do not speak of to the east.

Hard decision

If the Texans win that doesn’t make our horrible bomb look so bad. Yet the Ravens are in our division. I can say that now I truly hate both teams. I say go ratbirds! Don’t mess with the AFC North no matter what team. We play with the elite and we are a better team for it.

Respect your opinion.....

but I still can’t do it. It’s like when the Steelers were in the Super Bowl against the Cardinals…….I just couldn’t do it. I tried to root for them, but I just couldn’t do it. It almost made me physically ill like an alergy.

also

Just read that the NFL is not going to fine Reggie Nelson for that huge, legal hit last weekend that got called wrong…..again. So sick of the NFL being able to hide behind subjective calls, particularly when they are clearly wrong or change the course of a game. REFS aren’t held accountable at all. If players can be fined after tape review even when no penalty is called during the game, I think it’s only fair that refs get fined when sed tape is reviewed after games for blowing calls. Instead u get a hollow acknowledgment from the nfl “yeah, they sure blew that call, oh well”

I don't understand it???

I guess we are going to see the National Flag Football League if they don’t lighten up. Football is physical, a mans sport. These guys know what the risk that’s why they get paid the big bucks. Let them play!

what we are going to see is recievers blowing out acls and mcls weekly

Like harrisons hit on Decker, its all he can do without risking a fine.

Yea I heard that.

The last two games games he got hit with some pretty horrible calls. I think that the head to head hits should be reviewable. I know they are all worried about slowing the game down, but it is a 15 yard penalty and can really change the game. It is such a bang bang play that the refs really can’t make a good call on them most of the time. Also, I think not being able to hit a receiver coming across the middle is such bull crap because now the receivers are not scared one bit to come across the middle and it really takes the instinct out of playing defense. /rant

Your head is what? 12 inches away from the end of your shoulder. So if you make good contact with your shoulder your helmet is going to hit.

exactly
I love Nelsons hits

It’s not even in comparison with $&@!# harrisons. The guy is punishing WR’s for coming in his zone. I just hope the fines don’t deter his style of play. Hell, I’ll take up a collection to pay them if he just keeps bringing the wood.

The NFL has to come up with a wider point of view when it comes to replays and challenges.

Your right it’s to much of a gane changer not to really see if it was a bad hit or not.

One thing that will happen

from the officiating standpoint is that it hinder next year’s ratings. It is hard to explain in this forum but the playoff crews are set from regular season performances. If an official is selected for playoffs those games count towards next year’s ratings, and an official cannot work two Super Bowls in a row. At least that’s the way I understand it. Of course the official who threw the flag on that play with Nelson last week was just horrible all game long.

This is awesome.
