By the time that we're finished this year's NFL draft, we'll have promoted, reviewed, dissected, spewed and laughed at more mock drafts than what our beady little brains can probably handle. Earlier today Jason wrote on SB Nation's mock draft with Cincinnati selecting Alabama running back Trent Richardson and Nebraska cornerback Alfonzo Dennard -- addressing two positions that are "in need". NFL.com released a mock draft that featured several of their "experts".
According to their collection of mock drafts, much like SB Nation's latest iteration, NFL.com's experts has Cincinnati selecting a cornerback (either Dennard or North Alabama's Janoris Jenkins) or a running back such as Trent Richardson for their 17th pick.
The 21st pick holds a little more variety. Players selected include Virginia Tech running back David Wilson, Wisconsin center Peter Konz and University of Miami running back Lamar Miller, including the players mocked 17th overall.
Truth be told the NFL.com mock drafts targets areas that the Bengals need to address. One thing is basically certain during the early mock drafts is that the Bengals could be favorites to select a cornerback and running back in the first round.

Wow Charles Davis has us picking Janoris Jenkins at #17 rather than DeCastro. I like the combos of Richardson + Dennard or Jenkins + Miller.

I must be the only person who thinks after Richardson, David Wilson is the best RB. I have watched a bunch of video on Miller and Wilson. Wilson seems so much better. As far as CBs go its tough. Jenkins is a playmaker, Dennard a better tackler. Needless to say I’m not impressed by Miller, an like Wilson. Youtube them!

but someone said something about the way he carries the ball and he had/has issues with fumbles. I hadn’t noticed him holding the ball away from his body, but I’m going to go back and look at some more film at Draft Breakdown. Still I like Wilson alot after watching a lot of play by play film on that site. He has tremendous balance, breaks tackles, is fast…

The offense is so close to
being lethal its hard not to pick a stud guard as well as a RB in round 1. Then again, what about stud WR and RB in round 1?
Then again the defense is so close to falling apart in the secondary its hard not to reach for a CB and safety. Of course CB and stud OLB or CB and stud DE also works for me in the first round. Heck, would the Bengals draft two CB’s in round 1?

If Simpson and Caldwell are gone (and I expect them to be) then we're very thin at WR.
BabyHawk, Shipley and Whalen are good, but they all play across the middle, as does Gresham. We need someone to line up opposite AJ.
I’d put us G/RB/WR/CB, but don’t expect anyone to agree with me.

which could happen. But someone also posted something on another (well I should say several) story about Vidal Hazelton. We’ve got WR prospects on the PS… not to mention Binns on the 53 man roster.

But I wouldn’t want to rely on him to suddenly come in and be our #2. He has to be incredibly raw given his “career” so far. And I don’t really know anything about Binns, but I’m guessing it’s the same deal. I don’t want to put our future into the hands of two guys who weren’t even drafted and have never played a snap.

My understanding is that Hazelton had an injury. I don’t know much about him. Just pointing out possibilities. We don’t know what Hazelton and Binns have shown, so I can’t rule it out.

Down where we are drafting
there will be some awfully good linebackers and dlinemen to be had.
Devon Still, Fletcher Cox, Whitney Mercilus, Courtney Upshaw for the line.
Vontaze Brown, Zach Brown, Donta Hightower at LB.
Those guys might be the answer to getting the defense able to stop power run games like we saw with Houston and Baltimore.
Then go CB in round 2, RB in round 3.

I think we go Lamar Miller with pick #21. Pick 17 will be either guard or corner whoever is best available I would guess. If Kirkpatrick is there, take him. If DeCastro is there, take him. If Richardson is there, take him. Might even be Lamar Miller at 17 and then Konz at 21 if all the “hope they fall” guys are already taken.

Joe says round 2 is the sweetspot for guards this year.
I love having 2 first round draft picks. Gives us a lot of options. Also helps it’s a deep draft when it comes to our needs. CB is deep, OG is pretty deep, and their are good RB’s to be had in round 2 or 3.

I really hope Decastro falls to us at 17. Then we can go RB/CB depending on who’s available at that pick.
I like Miller there at RB and Gilmore/Dennard/Minnifield at CB. Or maybe we get a DL or LB their. Zach Brown from UNC is interesting, and I also like Jerel Worthy DT out of Mich. St.
We are only one or two pieces away on each side of the ball from being able to go on a run. Plus we will be young so hopefully we can have some sustained success!

Regardless of who the Bengals pick, 90% of the CJ folks are going to be cheering how the players the Bengals choose are just awesome, and 10% will be complaining :-)
Last year i checked the different sbnation sites, and the TEN fans thought Locker was the best QB in the draft after he was drafted by TEN, the MIN fans thought Ponder was the best QB after he was drafted by MIN, the CAR fans thought Newton was the best QB when they drafted him, etc…, etc…. (so it’s not just us who will be doing it)
So regardless of who the Bengals pick, just about everybody on this site will play the part of a Bengals’ apologist again and rant and rave about how great the player is, etc…
If Richardson falls to us, if we reach for L Miller, if DeCastro falls to us, if we take one of the CB’s or Barron, or whoever…. i can already see that most of Cincy Jungle will be happy with the pick.

I’ve been saying the Bengals should do some draft party/festival type thing @ Paul Brown stadium with Andy, AJ and other signing autographs and the Ben-gals walking around with season ticket ordering forms. We have 2 first round picks, everyomes going to pumped and excited no matter who we take- strike why the irons hot.

Speed
I need everyone to youtube Miller and Wilson. Wilson is much better than Miller. He has more balence, breaks more tackles, and is just as good recieving. I’m not sold on miller at all……. I’m not all that sold on Dennard as well. He is pretty strong, but he is rather slow. He would be like a younger Nate Clemens. Jenkins does have concerns off the field but has stayed out of trouble this year and is the best play making DB in this draft. Bengals need turnovers, Jenkins can get them. Dennard will just make tackles….

Was better to me than Harem when he was like freshman. Clairborne or Kirpatrick aren’t in his class either when it comes to cover skills. And he’s a 2 for 1 guy as he is a dynamic special teams player. And just think he go get even better going against AJ everyday. Would be without our best corner without a doubt.

I’ve seen Lamar Miller and David Wilson play in person. I thought both were very good backs. First I will say I think Lamar Miller will be the best back out of this draft. Even over Richardson. He had a below average offensive line and he would fight for every yard he could get, always diving forward. He breaks and bounces off tacklers very well and hits the hole harder than any back in the draft. He has great size for a speed back. Reminds me of Clinton Portis. Wilson has great hands and is a tremendous reciever out of the backfield. He is on the small side, he reminds me a lot of Bernard Scott actually. I don’t see him being as effective between the tackles that Miller is. A lot of times I saw him bouncing around trying to juke people instead of running forward. There is a reason a lot of people have Miller rated as the number 2 running back thus far and Wilson is in the third tier grouped with backs like Polk,Pead and James

Good point EPK1979. I don’t think Miller is bad at all, I just have a higher grade on Wilson myself. I’m just a draft junky and a Bengals fan. No expert! I do like Jenkins the most out of all the CBs but he is a little smaller than we all would like.

I would take either one of them over Benson. My brother works for the ACC and he got us tickets to quite a few games. Actually went to the VT-Miami game this year and they both put on a show. Saw Maryland-Miami and Miami-Georgia Tech. In all three of those games Miller put his team on his back and either won the game for them or kept them in it. I never saw him have a negative run. He can change a game on any given carry. Thats why I predicted him to be the best out of this class. I like Jenkins too a lot. If not for his off-field issues he would be a top ten pick. With Kirkpatrick getting busted, it should be interesting how he slides and maybe Jenkins moves back up. Or maybe Dennard slides down despite his issues too. I don’t like the fact he got kicked out of the Capital Bowl. So I guess they all have question marks.
