Good morning Bengals Nation! It's Wednesday and you know what that means? The week is halfway over and it's all downhill from here. This week can't end soon enough, just saying. And remember as I always say, if you're having a crummy week then grab a gallon of coffee and three dozen boxes of donuts because things will eventually get better.

Alright so there isn't really a whole lot going on with the Bengals right now. The biggest story that has been circulating in Bengals Nation is the future of defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer. Right now one of his potential destinations have been crossed off the list. The St. Louis Rams hired former Titans coach Jeff Fisher, so say bye-bye to St. Louis. That would leave Tampa Bay and Miami as the two most logical choices. However, there have been some rumblings that Zimmer is not a finalist for the Miami coaching vacancy. Don't know if that's true, but if it is then Zimmer's list could be down to one unless Oakland and Indianapolis enter the scenario here in the upcoming week or two. That's just pure speculation on my part since I have yet to see any reports indicating that either the Colts or Raiders are interested in him. Both of those teams need a coach and Zimmer has been a popular name around the league, so speculation is allowed.
In all honesty, I think it would be a significant loss for the Bengals if he left, but it wouldn't be detrimental to the team. The Bengals would be able to rebound from the loss of Zimmer. It's the players that execute the plays not the coaches. Even though Zimmer hasn't been in Cincinnati all that long he has helped transform the defense into one of the more consistent defensive units in the league. It will be interesting to see what happens in the coming weeks regarding Zimmer and the Bengals.
Alright so here is a look at what you may have missed or overlooked from Tuesday.

Miami Sucks
That is the biggest load of crap I have ever heard. Petrino was gutless to do what he did. If Miami were a little more honest and upfront about their team instead of recruiting celebrity part owners maybe they would win more. Zimmer is a hard working, plain spoken guy who loves his team and players. He would be a better fit in Tampa with a young team that needs a kick in the arse.

WHO CARES
HE just needs to hurry up and figure it out so we don’t lose out on good replacements
Diesel2405 - January 18, 2012
Zimmer stays
he would have been named HC if he was top canindate for either team.
AMAS85 - January 18, 2012
By that logic, neither team has any top candidates.
Boomer Lion - January 18, 2012
or they are still coaching?
AMAS85 - January 18, 2012
True.
Boomer Lion - January 18, 2012
Amother opening
I wonder if he will get a interview with the Colts now.
Yarin - January 18, 2012
i think the colts will go with an offensive minded HC coach for sure
cough cough **** BRIAN BILLICK * cough cough… they will be drafting luck you know…
AMAS85 - January 18, 2012
The Colts know who they want
They wouldn’t have waited this long to fire Caldwell if they didn’t.
Bigcatdaddy - January 18, 2012 via Android app
its funny you should say that
because it seems like most teams or GMs know who they want before they interview anyone. Mostly because of personal realationships they had before when working with each other. So it seems like interviews are done to be politically correct.
AMAS85 - January 18, 2012
Agreed........
I think with all the Colts have going on (Manning/Luck situation) that they are not just “flying by the seat of their pants.” They wouldn’t have fired and quickly hired a GM so quickly as well……they are a well run organization because of this forward thinking.
The Van Buren Boys - January 18, 2012
Are they really a well organization?
Or has having Manning as there QB made them appear to be a well run organization. They sucked before they got manning and as soon as he got hurt they were in shambles.. Just saying, a great QB can mask a lot of deficiencies.
biggie22 - January 18, 2012
+1
Anybody think Manning plays in Indy next season? They have their hands on Luck and just fired all the guys that Manning has played for or under. I smell something and it could be a new era for the Colts.
Bigcatdaddy - January 18, 2012 via Android app
manning to the J. E. T. S. lol
AMAS85 - January 18, 2012
Zimmer ?
Is this post is about Zimmer, I dont see a picture ..?
Any way….
Zimmer you need to stay in Cincinnati, Build up your resume more….
The way our defense looked in that last play off game was not a good look for you or us.
So lets win a super bowl some time soon, Then we can send you off in style.
Stay classy Cincy.

Right it's about him and not the bengals losing to the texans
njbengalstat - January 18, 2012
It is pertinant when talking about Zimmer and his value to point out the D colapse in the Texans game.
I don’t care one way or another about Zimmer staying here that much. Yea, I would prefer he stay but there are other guys out there who can coach D. Frankly I think Zimmer is very good but not the genius many here seem to think he is. Too many D failings in times of pressure to deserve the annointing many here are giving him.
JUNGLEJOHN - January 18, 2012
I agree we were only a #1 def 4 a couple weeks this year other then that. I can't remember when we finished the season being
A number 1 , 2 , 3 def?
njbengalstat - January 18, 2012
a playmaking SS and hall back next year
will put us in the top 3 for sure.
AMAS85 - January 18, 2012
Yup. We need a Troy or Reed and a nice corner
njbengalstat - January 18, 2012
The longer it drags out with Tampa Bay sounds like......
he’ll be coming back. Normally when an organization finds their guy they don’t keep dragging their feet like they are now. My guess is Zim is coming back. Unless he ends up as a candidate for the Colts, we’ll have everybody back……which could be huge for a young team to have some continuity from one season to the next.
The Van Buren Boys - January 18, 2012
especially with so many vacancies
you wouldn’t want your perfect head coach candidate to get an offer from another team, think how the fins/rams thing played out.
have to believe if the bucs were serious about zimmer, they would have made him an offer by now.
palewook - January 18, 2012
I don't remember where it was
But didn’t Josh or someone mention the possibility of pilfering knowledge from an interviewee and using it when you get the guy you really want?
Besides why pay for the cow when you can get her drunk and just hook up….
Jcon77 - January 18, 2012 via iPhone app
I like the Cow part. +1
njbengalstat - January 18, 2012
