Earlier on Thursday Bengals wide receiver Jerome Simpson was indicted by a grand jury for one count of trafficking marijuana. The incident dates back to September when authorities tracked 2.5 pounds of marijuana to Simpson's home, where they discovered another six pounds, along with supplies that posed the possibility that the home could have been used for distribution.

According to Jim Hannah with the Cincinnati Enquirer:
Prosecutors have requested Simpson be served a summons to appear in Kenton Circuit Court. His arraignment is scheduled for Jan. 30. The charge is punishable by one to five years in prison.
However if convicted, Kenton County Commonwealth Attorney Rob Sanders told WLWT that since "Simpson has been cooperative in the investigation and would be eligible for a diversion program", he could see significant reduction in his incarceration (if not avoided entirely).
Simpson will be an unrestricted free agent by early March. But whatever possibility of his return was probably demolished on Thursday.

observation
its crazy how many people commented on something negative. But then when something kind of positive comes out, there aren’t that many comments….

Shows how our society functions today. Everyone gets mad at the media for only reporting negative stories but in reality most people only want to hear the bad.

I say we let it play out in the courts, then decide to sign him or not.
He will be cheap, no doubt, and there are already teams like the Rams looking at him.
redrifle14 - January 19, 2012
Not worth the trouble
But i would just let it play out,i think Marvin would have him back, and Mike B.see’s a bluelight special
He should get jail time,me or you would, for a lot less pot than that
keithp - January 19, 2012
thats true
but jimmie nelson got caught with a whole bunch of pot down here in texas on his tour bus. And he didn’t have to spend one day in jail. Thats the advantages of being wealthy lol
AMAS85 - January 19, 2012

ItsAlwaysSunnyInDayton - January 20, 2012
Willie Nelson has a Medical need!
keithp - January 20, 2012
how? he is from Texas and lives in Texas. We don't have that down here.
It was on the news, Nelson showed up to court. And the Judge literally told him he had to do a concert or something to that extent for community service and he was let go.
AMAS85 - January 20, 2012
I didnt really have any insight
Just assumed Willie has been known as ol’smokie.my entire life

Rome shouldnt be that hard to replace
The Qb,and the line can make just about any NFL receiver a big name
Just like a bad Qb and line can make one fall off the earth
