As Jason pointed out on Thursday, Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer will interview for the vacant head coaching position in Indianapolis according to a SportsCenter report by NFL Insider John Clayton. The early candidates for the job includes New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael (not related to Chuck) and Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator Jerry Gray.
However lest we forget, Zimmer is very much in the running for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers vacancy that could spill into next week. In the mean time Green Bay Packers quarterback coach Tom Clements recently completed his interview with the Buccaneers and Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin will be interviewing soon.
There are upwards to nine candidates on Tampa Bay's hunt for a new head coach, with Zimmer being one of the few defensive-minded coaches.
Our simple prediction is this: Zimmer will return next year with the Cincinnati Bengals. But if he's doesn't, then the favorite to become Cincinnati's newest defensive coordinator will be defensive backs coach Kevin Coyle.

True
I would think at some point though the team would like to know one way or the other

True.
The team wants to know now. They are going to the shrine game right now, and the senior bowl next. They need their coach. But there isn’t much you can do about it. I just hope they are ready for a team without Zim.
