Bengals Move Training Camp To Paul Brown Stadium In 2012

For a long time, the Cincinnati Bengals had held their training camp at Georgetown College, which is just over an hour south of Cincinnati in Kentucky. I have personally driven down to Georgetown College twice to watch the Bengals training camp sessions, and I know that many of you have as well.

According to Bengals.com's Geoff Hobson, native Cincinnatians will no longer have to drive to Kentucky to watch training camp because training camp will be held right here in Paul Brown Stadium.

Bengals owner Mike Brown made a statement about the move saying that it was largely influenced about the new practice rules created in the new CBA.

Commenting on Thursday's decision, Bengals owner Mike Brown said, "The new agreement between the NFL and its players really impacts training camp by reducing practices. That's nothing the Bengals or Georgetown College wanted to see happen, but it is the hand we are dealt, so we both have to adjust to it. I will miss going away for training camp very much, and I will especially miss our friends in Georgetown, Kentucky."

We have been waiting on this news for some time now. The Bengals contract with Georgetown College was up after this past season and there has been talk about changes being made. This is good news for those Bengals fans who happen to live in the Cincinnati area, assuming that training camp sessions will be open to the public like they were in Georgetown (and I guess it's bad news for Bengals fans that happen to live in the Georgetown area).

The training camp schedule has not yet been released and it is currently unclear as to what the level of accessibility to practice and players will be during training camp. These things will become more clear in the future and we'll keep you up to date.

Interesting bit on Keith Rivers from Joe Reedy

It was a part of his 20 questions that he does on Twitter.

19. Do you think Keith Rivers is a part of this team next year? Right now it is too early to say and a lot depends on how his wrist is. Rivers suffers from a degenerative wrist condition of having a procedure which would allow him to play last season, Rivers opted for the riskier reconstructive surgery which caused him to miss the entire season. We won’t know until the start of offseason conditioning on April 16 how successful it was.

How about ....

Paul Brown -Building our team a practicing facility….= Preferably indoors

Its resoundingly silly that we(Still) are the only Northern team without one.

Stay classy Cincy.

I wonder where they're going to stay

and who is going to pay for it.

Yeah they need to stay somewhere other than their homes...

so they don’t have the distractions.

I didnt really think about this

doesnt really have the same effect if the players can be at home the whole time…The isolation is part of the process..

I think it was John Thorton that said "rookies can stay at hotels and vets at home". "marvin thinks he has a mature enough team to handle it". Personally I liked Georgetown but maybe they can have something like Redsfest with the Bengals.

yeah I kinda liked Georgetown too

I didnt like the location, but I liked the layout of the area..Good access to the players

Rookies

can stay in the practice facility…

Um, cool. I think

Means I might make it to a day. a 50 minute drive is better than 2 hours or whatever

"it is currently unclear as to what the level of accessibility to practice and players will be during training camp"

This can be really awesome….but I am concerned about this too……Are we going to be able to get up close…that was one of the cool things about camp….THIS IS STILL REALLY COOL….SMART MOVE….I bet it will be banging at PBS….pending price and accessibility

are they going to sell alcohol? food?

are we tailgating?

why not

I bet by the time late July rolls around…Everyone is going to be pumped for the some Bengals around here…

With all due respect

I hope not. The Reds should be in the midst of a pennant run at that time.

Im really excited about this.

I live 10 minutes from downtown so I ’m most likely actually going to attend now

It is obvious

In his words the mikey was not in favor of this. Stubborn old man is turning soft on us

If we get access, we got lucky.

Ravens fans around here are all in a tizzy because the Ravens have moved camp (for these same reasons) from a local college to their massive indoor/outdoor training complex (hint hint Mikey, it’s AWESOME) which is closed to the public.

Are you a fellow Bengals fan in Baltimore?

I'm guessing there will be a charge somehow

either to park or get inside. Just a gut feeling.
On another note: maybe the cheerleaders could have a bake sale to help pay for an indoor practice facility.

Practice. What are we talkin’ about? We talkin’ about Practice. Not the GAME. We sittin’ here talking about PRACTICE. Man…
