It's one of the league's best defenses against a team that has the potential to beat anybody in the NFL at any time. The 49ers have been consistently good with their hard-hitting defense from the beginning to the end of the season while the Giants were somewhat inconsistent through the regular season. That ended in the playoffs as the Giants knocked off the Falcons and then beat the Packers, the favorites to win the Super Bowl.
Both teams are on a roll and this game could go either way. So who's it going to be? Will it be the 49ers, who beat the Bengals in the Super Bowl twice, or the Giants from the Big Apple? Should be a great game.
The winner of this game will face the New England Patriots. Our own Mojokong believes the Giants win this one by a score of 24-13. What do you think?

Go Giants.
I would like to see them beat New England again!.

The best news of the day so far?
Brady won’t be playing in the Pro Bowl now. And I think we all know who the first alternate is. :)
sexsalad - January 22, 2012
+1000!!
Hadn’t thought about that. Congrats Pro Bowler Andy Dalton!!!
emeybee - January 22, 2012
has a rookie
in his first year ever been a pro bowler?
shortstopv2 - January 22, 2012
It's been done many times before in multiple places
as for a QB? Marino started the pro bowl as a rookie. I know there’s a few others, Big Ben for instance. Great as it is, it’s not a real rarity.
KSE - January 22, 2012
Plus he is in the pro bowl be default....
SevenRings - January 22, 2012
Marino would be my first guess
SevenRings - January 22, 2012
If you're talking about QBs, it's fairly rare.
But Suh was in it just last year.
sexsalad - January 22, 2012
And AJ this year
I wonder how often TWO rookies from the same team have made it
emeybee - January 22, 2012
Now that's probably rare.
sexsalad - January 22, 2012
im not sure if a rookie qb wr combo ever made it
That’s a pretty big thing.
JCompton41 - January 22, 2012 via mobile
I actually doubt many rookie WRs have made it.
They usually have a really tough time transitioning.
sexsalad - January 22, 2012
Anquan Boldin
was the most recent before AJ. I assume Moss did.
KSE - January 22, 2012
Reedy said they are the first
Rookie QB-WR combo to ever make it
Helmsy - January 22, 2012
Why is Frank Caliendo still on TV
He has never been funny
emeybee - January 22, 2012
or even good at impressions!
He does a good Madden, that’s it.
JCompton41 - January 22, 2012 via mobile
What?!?!
He does great impressions.
SevenRings - January 22, 2012
it's not funny though.
Sure, he nails the voices and mannerisms but the content is just brutal.
KSE - January 22, 2012
Funny is always subjective
SevenRings - January 22, 2012
madden
I’m sure he can do others but I’ve seen him do a lot of crap ones, and he’s not funny, and he’s just horrible.
JCompton41 - January 22, 2012 via mobile
No you said he "wasnt good at impressions"....that was all i was debating
SevenRings - January 22, 2012
and he does a lot of crap impressions
JCompton41 - January 22, 2012 via mobile
The team who needs to win
is the team that has the best chance of beating NE……. and I think that is Giants.
txbengal29 - January 22, 2012
49ers did pretty well with the Saints
Who has basically the same game plan as the Pats
emeybee - January 22, 2012
49ers defense is awesome
but I worry Bellichek being able to stop Alex Smith…. I trust Manning a little more.
txbengal29 - January 22, 2012
i want the 49ers to win
Because Alex smith. He’s been destroyed for 7 years in that city now he has a chance to take them to the superbowl!
JCompton41 - January 22, 2012 via mobile
Steven Tyler needs to send himself home after that anthem
emeybee - January 22, 2012
He is a sellout...Idol??? puh-lease
SevenRings - January 22, 2012
A lot of people would take a job on Idol.
They get paid ungodly amounts of money and don’t really have to do much.
sexsalad - January 22, 2012
And I bet he is hurting for money
SevenRings - January 22, 2012
Doesn't he have like 4 ex-wives?
KSE - January 22, 2012
Remember when
Bengals lost 13-8 to the Niners earlier this season and everyone felt like shit because they got beat by Alex Smith?
KSE - January 22, 2012
I remember
they didn’t cross midfield till the 3rd quarter. The 49ers.
txbengal29 - January 22, 2012
Did they think it was the BCS Title Game?
KSE - January 22, 2012
Hey look
Someone who can actually sing.
emeybee - January 22, 2012
Chenoweth in wet hair is nice.
KSE - January 22, 2012
This always bugs me about 49ers games.
Why don’t they put a tarp on that empty section of bleacher seats? It looks weird just being empty.
KSE - January 22, 2012
Ugly and Wet football.
Should be a blast.
KSE - January 22, 2012
Interesting
quite a few Steeler fans were cheering on the Ravens on the Ravens Baltimore Beat Down… kind of classy actually.
txbengal29 - January 22, 2012
The field looks in good shape from what I can see
Should be a slobberknocker
SevenRings - January 22, 2012
It's going to be really brutal
in the second half according to the weather people.
KSE - January 22, 2012
yeah i hear its supposed to be rainy
SevenRings - January 22, 2012
It's still amazing SF got here
with a top end TE and a #2 WR at best as their receiving options.
KSE - January 22, 2012
Would like to see Justin Smith continue his stellar play today
SevenRings - January 22, 2012
he has been a beast this year

I think if your TD is more than 50 yards you should be allowed to celebrate however you want.
emeybee - January 22, 2012
I hate that rule when the celebration is rather tame....
That should not be penalized….I do understand that some players go too far but this wasnt bad

ticalcaldwell - January 22, 2012
That penalty is why Singletary, single'd him out
keithp - January 22, 2012
Good lord Hochuli
He wants his camera time
emeybee - January 22, 2012
This Harbaugh is so damn intense,he is a FOOTBALL coach
keithp - January 22, 2012
what he has done is amazing
with Alex Smith…wow….coach of the year……by far
ticalcaldwell - January 22, 2012
Speaking of Hochuli's speech
I read an article that the NFL is planning to have some of the refs go full time starting next year. I did not know that NFL refs were not full time, and that is retarded. This is a billion dollar league. Explains a lot of the bogus calls.
emeybee - January 22, 2012
I disagree....there will be missed calls no matter what
Same with the NBA, MLB etc.
SevenRings - January 22, 2012
There will still be missed calls
But you have do do whatever you can to decrease them. If you want refs to act like professionals you have to treat them like professionals.
emeybee - January 22, 2012
It wont make a bit of difference....sounds good in theory tho
SevenRings - January 22, 2012
Really?!
You spend all week studying film and reading the rules instead of dishing up french fries or fixing toilets and it makes no difference?
emeybee - January 22, 2012
Most of these guys are professional types lol
Lawyers, doctor’s etc…..This has been debated for years. They have to make bang bang calls and there will always be complaints no matter how much film they watch. They know the rules better than you or I.
SevenRings - January 22, 2012
From Schefter:
WIN!
emeybee - January 22, 2012
Also, from somebody else who BabyHawk RTed:
Wonder what Cundiff is doing… and if he’s still alive.
emeybee - January 22, 2012
Probably hacking his leg off SAW style.
KSE - January 22, 2012
I would hate to tackle Brandon Jacobs....
He would rearrange my body parts :)
SevenRings - January 22, 2012

keithp - January 22, 2012
Eli the great,
keithp - January 22, 2012
Gresham is in the Probowl also
Helmsy - January 22, 2012

That’s crazy. Who woulda thunk this time last year that we’d have FOUR pro-bowlers.
emeybee - January 22, 2012
I know
Craziness I say just craziness
Helmsy - January 22, 2012
I just saw that Tebow is the alternate after Dalton
And with Ben hurt he might actually get in. Nuts.
emeybee - January 22, 2012
Oh geez
Helmsy - January 22, 2012
Thats just a fan thing there
I like Tebow, but that shows how bad the Qb’s were in the AFC
keithp - January 22, 2012
Rivers might disagree with you
emeybee - January 22, 2012
He got skipped? NO WAY
keithp - January 22, 2012
Rivers was 3rd overall.
A name pick if there ever was one.
KSE - January 22, 2012
The Ocho gets to go to the Super Bowl, before he retire's
keithp - January 22, 2012
Which means he'll have a ring regardless.
I mean, it could end up being a second place ring, but a ring nonetheless.
I still don’t like that the losers of the Super Bowl get rings, though.
sexsalad - January 22, 2012
His Daddy died,i'm going to root for him to get a catch, then retire
keithp - January 22, 2012
I want him to win, and not just because his dad died.
He’s one of the best Bengals in history. I wish him the best.
I’m not sure he’ll retire, though. I’d actually welcome him back here, as long as he could keep the ego in check. Putting him across from Green wouldn’t be bad at all, and it would be nice to get our guy back.
sexsalad - January 22, 2012

emeybee - January 22, 2012
He talked to much about Marvin,no way,but he can get his respect
keithp - January 22, 2012
welcome him back here?
I am done with that show…
ticalcaldwell - January 22, 2012
I'm pretty sure that having a 300 yard season humbled him.
I doubt he’d be loud anymore.
sexsalad - January 22, 2012
He just doesnt respect Marvin
keithp - January 22, 2012
Marvin earned that lack of respect IMO
With his childish behavior last year.
emeybee - January 22, 2012
Was ongoing for several years, not just last year
And had Ocho done that on a Gruden team he would have been right there with his cousin Keshawn
keithp - January 22, 2012
Well, I guess so.
Challenging him to a cage fight was pretty ridiculous.
sexsalad - January 22, 2012
It's a ring for winning the conference.
Which is still a big deal. People get rings for winning stupid high school division championships.
KSE - January 22, 2012
And bowling a 298...
keithp - January 22, 2012

That’s a plum job too
emeybee - January 22, 2012
WOW. Says a lot when he would rather stick with Andy than possibly working with Luck.
Tampa_Bengal - January 22, 2012
Not surprising
He just said that he doesn’t want to leave Cincy because they went out on a limb to get him and he owes it to the team to stick around. Which is another reason why he’s awesome.
sexsalad - January 22, 2012
yes he is awesome
what is going on in cincy..loyalty, humble behavior, unity…..crazytalk
ticalcaldwell - January 22, 2012
Vernon how stupid can you be....another 15 yard penalty
SevenRings - January 22, 2012
Looks like the Giants offense is more capable than the 49ers to score...
one big play has been the majority of the Niners offense
SevenRings - January 22, 2012
Look for the 49er's to take a halftime lead
keithp - January 22, 2012
Epic drive from Eli here.

SevenRings - January 22, 2012
Yikes....that is an interesting choice
Not sure he is a good fit in the NFL but what do I know
SevenRings - January 22, 2012
This is the difference in the 2 teams....
Last week aside, the Giants have a QB that can get it done in crunch time.
SevenRings - January 22, 2012
same with the AFC
Flacco doesn’t have the magic most of the time.
occams_tiger_teeth - January 22, 2012
Flacco was on point today.
Probably one of his absolute best games. Lee Evans and Cundiff lost that one. Alex needs everyone to do their parts just as well.
KSE - January 22, 2012
And Cruz control!!
keithp - January 22, 2012
Alex Smith 2-7 in the first half....gotta do better than that
SevenRings - January 22, 2012
I'm not gay,but that Boothe guy for the giants has the biggest ass i have ever seen on a human

Helmsy - January 22, 2012

SevenRings - January 22, 2012
Davis is a beast
Helmsy - January 22, 2012
5 for 12 but over 11 yards per attempt for A. Smith
that’s Tebow-esque
occams_tiger_teeth - January 22, 2012
Alex Smith is making the most out of his lone target.
KSE - January 22, 2012
For real
Cruz has more catch’s than Alex has pass attempts

Dalton as a younger version of Eli? Not saying that Andy should be ranked up in Eli’s class yet by any means but when i watch Dalton I see alot of the same characteristics. Throwing motion, pocket presence, similar deep ball, etc.
n8dogg - January 22, 2012

run away, run far away…or else you get a dumb mistake like that which may cost you a Super Bowl bid
SevenRings - January 22, 2012
