According to ProFootballTalk.com, the Colts will bring another candidate, San Francisco 49ers special teams coach Brad Seely, to Indianapolis to interview for the head coaching vacancy on Wednesday.
Seely has a good reputation as one of the best special teams coaches in the league. After spending a decade as a college coach, Seely broke into the NFL with the Colts in 1989 and has also coached the special teams for the Jets, Panthers, Patriots and Browns.
There have been a few successful head coaches who began as special teams coaches including Ravens head coach John Harbaugh, who was the special teams coach at the college level (including here at the University of Cincinnati) and for the Philadelphia Eagles before the Ravens signed him. Also Bears special teams coach Dave Toub and Cowboys special teams coach Joe DeCamillis have also been mentioned as possible head coach candidates.
Until we hear otherwise, Mike Zimmer is still a candidate for the head coaching position for the Colts and for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Keep checking back for more updates.
