The season is close to being officially over and the Senior Bowl is right around the corner. That means the draft talk is in full swing and it's time to pick out which players you'd like to see on the 2012 Bengals roster. The Bengals have a lot of holes to fill at cornerback, safety, running back and on the offensive line.
What college players would you like to see in a Bengals uniform in 2012? The floor is yours.

I would like to see
Miller = beast
Denard/Jenkins (based on personal interview)
Barron= need a high level safety…
BEST GUARD AVAILABLE
This is my wish list FOR RIGHT NOW…I havent gotten too deep into it yet…waiting for FA
ticalcaldwell - January 24, 2012
Don't need Barrron. Tmays
Coldmutha - January 24, 2012
I hope your right
ticalcaldwell - January 24, 2012
no way the bengals chance and don't give mays competition
thats what he needs to get better.
AMAS85 - January 24, 2012
They wouldn't draft Barron to compete for a spot
They would draft him to start, meaning the Mays experiment would be over.
Animal_Like_Football - January 24, 2012
not necessarly
We could still use a lot of mays on passing plays or some type of blitz package.
AMAS85 - January 24, 2012
Mays
What has led you to the decision that Mays can start at safety? His extensive playing time? That we traded a 7th round pick for him?
Don’t get me wrong, I like the guy as a hitter, and I hope Zimmer works his magic on him. But coverage instincts aren’t just learned overnight, and we will have no better idea at the draft than we do right now whether the light bulb wwill go on or not.
If Barron is there, he can start right away. Mays can still be useful to the team. But pinning our hopes on him is just foolish.
EarthwormJim - January 24, 2012
That's what I meant though.
It would mean that Mays is not a starter and would be almost exclusively a special teams player / situational player. You don’t draft a first rounder to compete for a spot, you draft him to start there.
Animal_Like_Football - January 24, 2012
I wasn't directing that at you
but to all the dreamers out there :)
EarthwormJim - January 25, 2012
Still would take Barron....
Even if we end up trading either him or Mays afterwards. Gives us a little flexibility….

i havent seen him much, a overview please??
Touhue Cha - January 24, 2012
AJ Green
only he comes from a triple option offense, 6’5" high jump champ in H.S.
joeb69 - January 24, 2012
29 yard per catch avg
joeb69 - January 24, 2012
thats nice
ticalcaldwell - January 24, 2012
WOW!!
so is he comparable to Thomas and Johnson who also came out of GT Triple Option??
Touhue Cha - January 24, 2012
no
not in their class, but he’s a good blocker and can high point the ball, a boom or bust prospect imo that we can afford to take a chance on in the third, needs help with his routes( my biggest con, that and concentration lapses)
joeb69 - January 24, 2012
cool, but i was considering Marvin Jones WR outta Cal
Touhue Cha - January 24, 2012

joeb69 - January 24, 2012
its cool, thanks for showing me Stephen Hill though looks pretty good just need to fix a few things in his game then hes good
Touhue Cha - January 24, 2012
He's really raw. He did get concussed during the season
messjunk - January 24, 2012
I don't want to draft any WR who isn't potentially stellar. We already have decent one.
If he isn’t a pretty sure upgrade – I pass.
JUNGLEJOHN - January 25, 2012
Hill is not as good as Sands. And Sands is very average
Coldmutha - January 24, 2012
ones a safety, the other is a wide out, how do they compare?
joeb69 - January 24, 2012
Saw him play in person
Great athlete. Route tree is very limited. Ran mostly go routes. Could be a very good player but I think he would have similar career path to Jerome Simpson.
EPK1979 - January 24, 2012
my fear too
but could have another AJ Green with a 3rd, to me it’s worth it
joeb69 - January 24, 2012
I like him
I just dont think he could contribute for a season or 2.
EPK1979 - January 24, 2012 via mobile
3rd round is when the Bengals seem to go for boom or bust
11=Moch, 10=Shipley, Ghee, 09=M. Johnson, Coffman, 08=Sims, Caldwell, 07=none because in 06=Rucker and supplemental on Ahmad Brooks, 05=Chris Henry, R.I.P.
joeb69 - January 24, 2012
True, the Bengals Simply just take a chance on the guy because he's falling
Touhue Cha - January 24, 2012
that's why I like Hill in the third
but, you never know till draft day cause it could be someone else who takes the tumble
joeb69 - January 24, 2012
pead wont be there in the 4th or 3rd lol
AMAS85 - January 24, 2012
I know
like I put, wishful thinking
joeb69 - January 24, 2012
i will go out on a limb and say that Pead may go the first round if he get his speed around the 4.35 range at the combine
AMAS85 - January 24, 2012
pats wont pass that up.
AMAS85 - January 24, 2012
like I've said in other posts
Pead to me is the second coming of Walter Payton, it’s just hard to convince other fans of what I see, I would not be upset if we reached for him
joeb69 - January 24, 2012
i see marshal faulk
great vision, good hands, and just glides on the football field when he gets the ball
AMAS85 - January 24, 2012
but Pead reminds a lot of chriss perry in his college days
AMAS85 - January 24, 2012
Nope
Raiders don’t have a pick until the 4th
biggie22 - January 24, 2012 via mobile
I think we let INDY hire Paul Alexander and then we trade our 21st pick for their 1st in the 2nd and 3rd round then
the 17th pick for David DeCastro
the Colts can get Trent Richardson with the 21st pick
and then we can get Janoris Jenkins in the 1st pick of round 2
and then get Isaiah Pead with the 21st pick of round 2
then get Trumaine Johnson with the 1st pick of round 3
and then get trade our 21st pick of the round 3 for more picks
ahahaha just saying
Touhue Cha - January 24, 2012
id be okay with that if we can truely get all those players
but this the bengals we are talking about. they will stay put and wait for players fall to them.
AMAS85 - January 24, 2012
Oh i was just saying if i was GM lol ahaha
Touhue Cha - January 24, 2012
Why do you want a C that high?
messjunk - January 24, 2012
he's a monster
6’5" 315lbs, can play C/G or C with cook sliding to left G, in the AFC North, you gotta be big at C for all the NT’s we face, one of the knocks I have on Cook is he can’t hold his ground VS the bigger NT’s, but would make a terrific pulling G
joeb69 - January 24, 2012
sorry my bad I want Konz as well Brewster/Jones
messjunk - January 24, 2012
Best linemen available at that point
and still could move Cook or they could play G
joeb69 - January 24, 2012
How about pick a T and change to G
Then again could do that with Smith
messjunk - January 24, 2012
Why do you want to pick a C that high?
messjunk - January 24, 2012
sorry double post
messjunk - January 24, 2012
From Yahoo:
Markelle Martin (DB, Oklahoma State) stood out as the feistiest defender. Martin growled with rage when McNutt caught a pass in front of him, and delivered a lot of contact in both 7-on-7 and full-squad drills. He will be worth keeping an eye on as a press or Cover-2 cornerback.
On the offensive line, Kelechi Osemele (G-T, Iowa State), stood out during position drills, routinely putting defenders on their butts.
The North is short on centers, so Kevin Zeiter (G, Wisconsin) has moved over to back up Tim Brewster (C, Ohio State). Zeitler put several snaps on the ground and took extra reps at center at the end of practice. Zeitler snapped a few times in practice as a college freshman, but otherwise never played center, even at the Pop Warner level. “It’s just a matter of me being excited,” Zeitler said of the bad exchanges. Brewster also missed an exchange, but aborted snaps can be expected when working with three different quarterbacks under totally new practice conditions.
Speaking of Brewster, he got into a brief shoving match with Mike Martin (DT, Michigan) after Martin beat him on an inside move during position drills. Brewster and Martin are familiar foes, of course, because of the Michigan-Ohio State rivalry. “He’s one of my best competitors,” Brewster said after practice. “I love going against him.”
Kirk Cousins (QB, Michigan State) threw the prettiest pass of the morning: a 35-yard bomb on an out route that landed right in the arms of Marvin McNutt (WR, Iowa State). Unfortunately, McNutt dropped the pass.
pemci - January 24, 2012
Practice ended with Doug Martin (RB, Boise State) returning kickoffs. Martin was one of Monday’s stars and has looked like one of the best athletes on the field so far. Martin even lined up at fullback in front of Isaiah Pead (RB, Cincinnati) in what appeared to be a “speed” package for a few snaps.
..
pemci - January 24, 2012
I love it!!!!
I would love to see Martin and Pead together in the back with stripes.
GetMused - January 24, 2012
wow, what if we really picked both of these players to replace Benson and Scott lol
AMAS85 - January 24, 2012
That would be a pick your poison for defenses I would think... :)
pemci - January 24, 2012
If we can't pick up Barron, I would love Markelle Martin...
I’ve watched a lot of (the real) OSU ball (Go Poke!), and Martin is a talented safety. He has instincts, delivers a hit and tackles well. Good center fielder type, very competitive. The Cowboys were very good this year (as a team) at creating turnovers and the offense’s success kept the defense on the field a lot.
I’d expect that if we wanted Martin, it would have to be the 2nd round and even then he may not quite make it to us.
Boomer Lion - January 24, 2012
Martin is a fs and Barron is a ss but
I like Martin better as a 2nd rounder than Barron as a 1st rounder.
EPK1979 - January 24, 2012 via mobile
Scout Report
RB Trent, Martin, Miller
G DeCastro, Glenn, zeitler

GetMused - January 24, 2012
I WANT TO WIN SUPERBOWLS NOT POPULARITY CONTESTS
What makes a good running back great? What makes a good QB elite? A stellar offensive line. I am starting the campaign now with 17th pick we NEED David DeCastro. Becoming an unstoppable force in our running game and an unmovable object for pass protection. Do you want to win super bowls? Than this is our first pick with out question. Now our second pick needs to either be Baron or Martin because safety has become such a necessity in this pass happy league. Running back in the later rounds and bring in a solid corner in FA. ( I really want Cortland Finnegan)
TDOG - January 24, 2012 via mobile
I agree with the offensive line statement, but Decastro will be swooped up by Dallas, unless somehow RG3 drops to them or they trade up
AMAS85 - January 24, 2012
and our biggest needs is in the secondary followed by RB
AMAS85 - January 24, 2012
I dont think he gets to the 17th pick but im all for DeCastro
I would even think about moving up a couple spots to get him. I dont think he would get past the Jets and that would suck!
EPK1979 - January 24, 2012 via mobile
Only chance to get him is to trade up
Chiefs or Seahawks. Our two firsts for their 1st, 2nd and 5th
messjunk - January 24, 2012
While DeCastro would be nice
there are other good guards available in the 2nd round to beef up our line and we have too man needs to trade our 2 firsts for 1.
Oregonbengalsfan - January 24, 2012
As long as we don't get left with Cordy Glenn I"ll be happy
messjunk - January 24, 2012
BEN JONES!!! lol
Touhue Cha - January 24, 2012
you don't like Jones?
http://www.georgiadogs.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/jones_ben00.html
joeb69 - January 24, 2012
i mean i rather go Ben Jones and move him to guard if we dont get DeCastro or one of the Top guards
Touhue Cha - January 24, 2012
Osemele would be a pretty sweet consolation prize.

4 ta’amu, dt
5 (a)ganaway, rb (b) nielsen, olb
6 adams, wr
7 ellison, te
pray4gm11 - January 24, 2012 via mobile
From just the players I"ve seen
DeCastro OG
Richardson RB
Barron S
Upshaw DE/OLB
Hightower ILB
Beyond that I’m in the dark more than usual.
But I think the Bengals will decide to go offense though. Take it to another level by adding a RB and WR and OG in the first three picks. Assuming they can get a couple corners in FA to start.
BENGALS69 - January 24, 2012
if we resign Jerome. I don't think they go after a WR in the draft
AMAS85 - January 24, 2012
I think shipley, whalen, and Hawkins a do just fine
pray4gm11 - January 24, 2012 via mobile
As I said, I think they take it to another level, not stand pat with the same guys.
By getting a WR early. Then with a much improved line a hopefully very good RB and WR, that offense will be scoring quite a bit.
Simpson is done in Cincy. We’ll not see him back. I’m just guessing what I think the Bengals will do.
BENGALS69 - January 24, 2012
I think Simpson will be back
he probably wont even spend a day in jail. So they can essentially sign a first round talent in jerome for real cheap.
AMAS85 - January 24, 2012
Jerome = first round talent?
Gotta disagree there. Maybe third round talent who now has character/intelligence issues. I’d probably draft him in the 4th or 5th round if he were entering the draft today (hindsight is 20/20 though).
Animal_Like_Football - January 24, 2012
he would go top 10 now
Come on give guy some credit. This was his rookie year basically and he was solid. Only knock I had on Simpson was he didn’t attack the ball. Outside of Blackmon who is better than Simpson?
pray4gm11 - January 24, 2012 via mobile
I need a little Joe Goodberry to help me talk down the homers.
I love the Bengals as much as anybody, but Jerome (1) often runs the wrong route (2) lacks focus and consistency catching the ball (3) disappears for multiple games at a time.
Putting him as a top 10 talent is a diss to legitimate top ten talents like AJ Green and Calvin Johnson.
That said, he’ll be one of my all time favorite Bengals for the flip into the End Zone. Coolest play ever.
Animal_Like_Football - January 24, 2012
Lets put it like this
He has first round athleticism, and 7th round football IQ
The Dealio - January 24, 2012
ur combine numbers is what makes u 1st rd pick
Jerome was playing his 1st full year in new system, rookie qb, and horrible line. And to top it off he was under FEDERAL INVESTIGATION and played pretty decent. It might not look like it but if u ask coaches who made more mental errors and they’ll tell Green between the two. Simpson is a solid #2
pray4gm11 - January 24, 2012 via mobile
That's why I say we need to draft Usain Bolt as our next RB
He would light up the combine.
Also, a solid #2 does not go in the top 10 and I don’t think we can pass off a 4th year WR as a player who is basically in his rookie year.
Animal_Like_Football - January 25, 2012
Simpson might not get jail time, but the commish will definitely suspend him for a lot of games.
DTFCPDX - January 24, 2012
who?
Your not going to get anybody better than shipley in this draft unless u get Wright in first. Whalen and Hawkins are very nice dependable Wr who are going always be in right spots and have nice hands. Whalen might be better than Shipley and that’s saying something.
pray4gm11 - January 24, 2012 via mobile
jenkins and adams looking good
pray4gm11 - January 24, 2012 via mobile
this bentley kid is nice too
pray4gm11 - January 24, 2012 via mobile
yea after watching some more videos, I still think pead is better martin+
AMAS85 - January 24, 2012
Thats what i been trying to say
Touhue Cha - January 24, 2012
to be honest, so far I think pead would be my number 2 back overall
you cant teach vision and awareness. I swear every step Pead takes has a purpose. And he clearly has best hands and height out of the backs in the top 10
AMAS85 - January 24, 2012
i would have to say the same
When i look at Pead, he is a little bigger version of Darren Sproles and he has the vision and the speed to cut it up the seam , Also i think he has the best hands out of all the back, maybe behind Richardson
Touhue Cha - January 24, 2012
i would argue Pead has the best hand out of all the top backs this year
and he is taller which gives him an edge too
AMAS85 - January 24, 2012
Pead and Ganaway will compliment each other well. Ganaway has nice set of hands and is a sleeper pick in my book.
pray4gm11 - January 24, 2012 via mobile
im not too sure about ganaway
but Pead does need to add a few more pounds, which I think he can add at least 10 to 15 with out losing a step. IF he runs in the 4.35 range at the combine (long shot), he will move into the first round. I promise!
AMAS85 - January 24, 2012
as much as i like Pead, i dont want him to go in the 1st round because too many Teams can get a still unless we Pick him up in the 1st
Touhue Cha - January 24, 2012
i agree
i think if he clocks fast in 40. I can see the pats taking him at the end of the first round. They would be able to use pead to the fullest. IMO
AMAS85 - January 24, 2012
unless we are able to trade down to get Pead
Touhue Cha - January 24, 2012
Homerism in full effect
Anybody know what Mardy Gillyard is up to these days?
The Dealio - January 24, 2012
Stupidest comment I have read so far?
In what way other then the school does Pead relate to Marty Gilyard?
Diesel2405 - January 25, 2012
the fact that everyone was trying to say gilyard was the next great wr
Just like they’re saying Pead is. People have compaired him to Walter payton, come on now!

Apparently the Bengals also talked to Chris Polk and Russell Wilson Monday
Monday’s Player/Team Observations
Oregonbengalsfan - January 24, 2012
from what I seen of polk
he looks like a 3rd rounder to me. Polk doesn’t seem to have that good of lateral movement
AMAS85 - January 24, 2012
And he wasn't impressing at all

Oregonbengalsfan - January 24, 2012
Polk sounds like Benson

He probably wasn't paid for it though...
Animal_Like_Football - January 24, 2012
West Coast Offense
Is a bell cow back away from greatness.
They’ll find a #2 receiver in free agency, and I think they’re very high on Binns and Hazelton. Shipley will EXCEL in the slot, and I think Ryan Whalen is going to be better than expected,
I know it’s not popular, but I think they have to take Richardson in the first. The extra pick gives them the ability to take a bit more risk, not to mention the new rookie scales make the risk far less.
I would have preferred Montee Ball, but I think Richardson could be an elite back.
Dallas had the triplets. They were 3-13 with just Irvin, 1-15 with Aikman and Irvin, and 7-9 with Aikman Irvin and Smith. Within two years they won their first Super Bowl.
Dalton, Green and Richardson would elevate the offense to unstoppable levels.
Skyhook - January 24, 2012
Just my dream mock. Probably wont happen though. So kind of unrealistic with Jenkins and Johnson and maybe even Wolfe
1a. Decastro
1b.Miller
2. Janoris Jenkins

4. Best WR
5. Derek Wolfe
