Kevin Coyle, a defensive assistant coach with Cincinnati since 2001 and a defensive backs coach since 2003, interviewed for Miami's defensive coordinator position on Wednesday. Many close to the team believe it's only a matter of time before the Dolphins tab him as their defensive coordinator. In the meantime Ben Volin with the Palm Beach Post writes that the Miami Dolphins are changing back to a 4-3 base defense, perhaps an indication that the hiring of Coyle is imminent. Further Volin tweeted early Thursday morning:

Hearing that it will be a major upset if Kevin Coyle doesn't get #Dolphins DC job, and he'd likely bring JAX LB coach Mark Duffner with him
Duffner spent four seasons as Cincinnati's linebackers coach from 1997-2000 before he was promoted to defensive coordinator in 2001 and 2002 when Coyle joined the team as a defensive assistant.
If Coyle leaves for Miami, Marvin Lewis, speaking from Mobile, Alabama will be prepared.
"This is my chance to come down here and have one-stop shopping and talk to people about different people I know," Lewis said Tuesday.

4-3 Bsae Defense?
Is that something exotic, like the “UFO” defense the Bengals used a number of years ago?

for miami it is...
see i remember when zimmer first came here he said he was gonna reverse the trend and make the 4-3 the big D on the block again… and so far everyone in the AFCN has switch cept pittsburg. and its starting to swing around in the league too…

That was in response to a typo (Bsae) that is now fixed...
The moment has passed.

hmm should the bengals make a move for mark duffner at lb coach?
he did coach our LB’s for 5 years prior to marvin joining the bengals. duffner is also a former UC defensive coordinator.

Holy Cross head coach as well...plus
he coached the linebackers with the Packers before moving to the Jaguars

spikes and simmons
were the only LB in the 5 years duffner was in cincy that the team drafted higher than the 5th round. can’t really complain with the work duffner did with spikes and simmons.

what about zimmer bringing his son on as LB coach?
TruWhoDey - January 26, 2012
Adam Zimmer
was with the saints for four years as a lb assistant coach (joe vitt is the actual lb coach in NO). he’s been with the kc chiefs coaching staff for the past 2 seasons as a LB assistant coach as well.
if it keeps zimmer happy and in cincy, works for me.

It sounds like Miami...
…doesn’t want to pay their Pro-Bowl NT—I think that’s the issue. Can’t run 3-4 without a good NT.
