2012 NFL Pro Bowl: Andy Dalton On Being In Hawaii With Teammates

There are four Bengals players in Hawaii right now practicing to play in the Pro Bowl. It's the first time since 2005 since there have been four Bengals players in the Pro Bowl and considering that two of those players are rookies and the other two are second-year players, it's clear to see that the future of the Bengals has the potential to be exciting.

Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton and Cam Newton make their Pro Bowl debuts and mark the first time that two rookie quarterbacks will be featured in the Pro Bowl's history. Dalton is thankful to be in Hawaii and believes that the Bengals have a bright future based on how many of his teammates are there with him.

Star-divide

"A year ago I was in Mobile, Ala., in the Senior Bowl trying to impress scouts. A year later, I'm sitting here in Hawaii at the Pro Bowl," he said. "A lot has happened and I just feel blessed to be where I am."

"Trying to get to the playoffs is all I was worried about. With that, I was able to get here," he said. "I feel blessed. The Lord has given me so much and it's been a big year and this is a great way to kind of end it."

Dalton also says that it's a sign of the "young talent" that the Bengals are packed with. Aside from Dalton and A.J. Green, second-year players defensive Tackle Geno Atkins and tight end Jermaine Gresham are also representing the AFC in the Pro Bowl in Hawaii this Sunday.

"For us to be here with four guys in their first, second year, it shows the kind of young talent we have," Dalton said. "I think all four of us here, just to be around these guys that have been to the Pro Bowl a lot, it's great for us and gives us a little exposure and we can build upon this."

Watching the Pro Bowl should be fun for a change and I'm excited at the prospect that these four young players could learn from some of the best players at their positions and bring those lessons home to the Bengals for the next season.

Philip rivers Teach dalton how important that TE is.
also teach him some arm strength if possible so he can improve in that department
Andy can make any throw on the field you need him to make.
i meant the long bombs how Rivers throws his long bombs to his 6'5 WR's lol
But don't let your crybaby ways rub off on him.

I get so sick of Rivers whining and crying.

that too lol ahahah Wish Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers was in the AFC lol
rivers has the worst throwing motion in the NFL

so hopefully Dalton doesn’t “learn” anything from that….personally i’d rather he learn an effective pump-fake from Big Ben (i think he’s got the best one in the league) it’s a supremely underrated part of Ben’s game, and IMO a big reason why he extends plays so well (other than weighing as much as a baby seal)

^This

I’ve said it before, if Dalton would get the pump fake down, his passes that are knocked down at the line of scrimmage would be reduced drastically. The lineman would have bitten on the pump fake and wouldn’t be able to get up to the pass when he actually threw it.

but dont teach him how to receive a snap
ChiliDog? or Aguy?
Awesome!!! :)
damn it

i’ll actually have to watch the probowl this year. something i rarely do.

Well yeah!!

You have to watch Andy come in midway through the third quarter and lead the AFC to a fourth quarter comeback against the most vanilla defenses that anybody has ever seen (or Tim Tebow has ever seen)!!!

The Pro Bowl cracks me up.

Every year I watch the pro bowl

every year I am disappointed after about 3 plays….just bad idea…this game must have some value or it is just for fun….see the MLB..since the home field advantage aspect of the game was added..the games are actually good now..

I say just vote them in, so they are known as Pro Bowlers....

but don’t even worry about the game.

I would like to see the game...add value to it
still good to learn from other "elite" players @ your respective positions

and i think the winning team gets more $ than the losing team…which is just a bonus check, but hey that bonus check is more than lots of us make all year most likely

Just DVR............

then can skip NFC possessions and commercials. Whole game takes 20 mins.

Niiiiiice idea!

I will be doing this

Skipping NFC possessions will make you miss

GENO!

Yeah

Gotta watch me some Geno

Or you can watch Geno in super fast motion.......he'll look like Wyle E. Coyote or something lol
Lol

Doesn’t Zim call him Taz already? Fits perfectly.

Haha

He is called Taz

Hate the Pro Bowl, but....

I won’t get to see these guys play for a while, so I will watch just for them.

It shocks me at the amount of Bengals fan

hate or complain about Dalton…It amazes me…

This.

He makes the Pro Bowl as a rookie, he leads the team to a 9-7 record, yes he had help, but nothing is good enough for some. People complained he wouldn’t win a game, he was a nobody, we didn’t know what we were doing. The guy is still learning, and seems like he wants to absorb all the knowledge he can, he is a good guy, good with the fans and he is competitive. He has a high ceiling, but he could come out next season and be better, and he still won’t be good enough. Okay, enough with my rant, I guess you all can tell I like him.

+1

I was pretty skeptical when we drafted Andy and thought we would be in it for Luck this year. But I was pretty off with my expectation for him. Andy is a winner and you can tell. He had a few games where he actually looked like a rookie, but he did make the probowl for a reason.

But it will be interesting to see how he performs with higher expectations next year…. I hope we continue to build the pieces around him because Andy and AJ are start of something special!

Yeah we have to invest in our run game

I think our line wasnt THAT bad this year…we just didnt have any playmakers running the ball…need to solidify this position….

Don't get too frustrated..........

there are always the naysayers out there. Dalton played solid this year, at times like a rookie, but guess what everyone? He is a rookie! He had Green, sure……but also little else at times. Our run game was non-existent for long stretches, as were Simpson and Gresham. Losing Ship hurt too and we still made the playoffs. Dalton had a better season than anyone anticipated, period.

are you Jordan Dalton? ;)
that was reply to Ben-GAL
its a minority
The only things he needs to pick up are

how to pump fake, and how to look off Ed Reed. Also if he could pick up a #2 who always came back to the ball and caught most of them too.

And not to always try to force it to AJ.

I think with Ship back he will take some of that away, and I hope Andy uses Gresh more.

Dalton- He is a great leader .

He is young and will only get stronger.
The deep ball will come – trust me .

The thing about the deep ball

didnt Dalton to green average the most catches over 30 yards…something like that..cant remember…but yes he does need work on the deep balls…

Yeah his deep ball just needs to be more accurate.

Still waiting on chili dog here...

Strength throw arm Dalton never. Weak ball go arm pass fear bad.

I swear Chili is Carson Palmer
Wouldn't that be funny

I can see him sitting at a computer in the dark typing furiously.
