Former Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco holds many of the franchise's all-time receiving records, eclipsing legends like Isaac Curtis, Eddie Brown, Cris Collinsworth or even Carl Pickens, who played during one of the more depressing Bengals eras in the history of planet Earth. During his final season with the Cincinnati Bengals, Chad generated 67 receptions for 831 yards receiving alongside Terrell Owens with Carson Palmer as the quarterback. One year later Palmer was traded for a first-round pick in 2012 and a second-round selection in 2013, Chad was shipped to New England for a fifth-round pick in 2012 and a sixth-round selection in 2013 and Owens signed with the Dallas Wranglers of the IFL. The Bengals improved by five wins, earning a berth into the 2011 NFL playoffs.

| Chad Ochocinco's career in Cincinnati | ||
| Category | Statistic | Franchise Rank |
| Receptions | 751 | 1st |
| Yards Receiving | 10,783 | 1st |
| Touchdowns | 66 | 1st |
| 100-Yard Games | 31 | 1st |
Leaving Cincinnati for New England didn't follow the same path as Corey Dillon's journey. Whereas the running back was an effective and vital member of New England's offense during the 2004 Super Bowl season, Chad has only posted 15 receptions for 276 yards receiving in 15 games for the Patriots this year.
On the other hand Chad will be heading to the Super Bowl this season, calling this year a humbling experience:
"It’s been a learning experience; that’s what this has been," Ochocinco told the AP. "This had been one of the most humbling experiences I’ve ever been in. This is one of the first times I’ve been about doing exactly what everyone told me to do. It wasn’t about the numbers. It wasn’t about money. It wasn’t about me."

Thanks Chad
So you are not admitting that your time in Cincinnati was about you, about the numbers, and about the money. Good riddance.

Salute
I still run with the 2011 madden ps3
Just to see you do the ochocinco maharani dance every time i hit you over the middle on a crossing route … Priceless.
Blowing out the competition when i have time to get online…..
But in real life …. You need to get out of Ne after this year if you want to remain relevant.
Your still one of my all time Bengals favorites – Remember stay humble

I'm happy for him!!!
He put in the work while in Cincy, he’s just reaping from the benefits now…
Dwight Carter - January 27, 2012
Are you joking?
He put in the work with cincy? He’s just reaping the benefits? Did you just become a Bengal Fan? I don’t normally react to other’s opinions like this but you can’t be serious. The boy hasn’t put in any effort since the ‘05 season. He was more involved with his Twitter account than he was with his own teammates. The saddest thing is that people including me, no doubt, once praised him for his polished route running and his undeniable speed, but after ’05 he decided nothing else mattered, to put it in his words, “This is one of the first times I’ve been about doing exactly what everyone told me to do. It wasn’t about the numbers. It wasn’t about money. It wasn’t about me.” …..how do you take this quote and write he put in his work in Cincy. If he put in his work in Cincy he would have won a SB, or at the very least continued his success of consecutive 100yrd games and TD celebration dances….instead he sucked hardcore for the remainder of his time in Cincy. If he put in his time he wouldn’t now be saying this is the first time I’ve done what I’ve been told. Preposterous Dwight Carter….damn right Preposterous.
Toasted_Orange_Monster - January 27, 2012
eh?
http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/2584/chad-ochocinco
so he took 2006 to now off? no effort or anything?
palewook - January 27, 2012
Seriously the continuous chad hate is embarrassing
Get over it already
Diesel2405 - January 27, 2012
I don't think you will see any Chad hate from me other than my most previous rant....
I just hate to see anyone give him props or say he put in his time or gave his full effort because I know from the games I watched he did not. Stats can be misleading, I personally thought TO’s stats were great, but when you watched him play thats all there was, stats, it didn’t translate into a playoff run to the SB…. so I know stats show you one thing but as a fan you should be able to see the truth behind them. I promise no more chad hate, just frustrated that anyone thats a bengals fan would think he put in his work…. I’ll say he worked hard up to ‘05 he put up the stats in ’06 and ’09 but thats it. He doesn’t deserve to be a Bengals HOF because he never accomplished anything here other than stats.
Toasted_Orange_Monster - January 27, 2012
So your putting everything on Chad?
Chad was the sole and only hope for playoff appearances and a super bowl win? Chad stopped caring about the “team” when he finally realized the Bengals organization did not care about the “team”
Diesel2405 - January 27, 2012
He wanted to be the center of attention....
Well he got mine, then never proved he deserved it….. that’s the game and that’s football, you want all eyes on you, then you need to prove you deserve it…..Again I’m not saying he wasn’t a leading factor to our success in ‘05, ’06, and ’09, CP9 was also off target and our running game would be dominant one game and fall apart in another, but when he wasn’t catching TD’s did we win a lot of games? Thats the onus I put on him.
Toasted_Orange_Monster - January 27, 2012
+1,000,000
When Chad left he must of took his 25000 fans with him. Ee wasn’t selling out before him and ain’t selling out without him. Chad was huge for our organization.
pray4gm11 - January 27, 2012 via mobile
+1
I don’t under stand the hate either. He did so much for the fans and seemed to be well liked by his team mates.
AMAS85 - January 27, 2012
It's not hate guys....
I just don’t like that they praised his work ethic…. Just my (opinion), You all are more than welcome to disagree….that’s why I love this site….
Toasted_Orange_Monster - January 27, 2012
I guess Palmer ur all time hero
If u mad at chad u mad at the last 500 Bengal players we then had. Chads the best player we then had since Kenny Anderson, and he was also the MAIN reason we started selling out games.
pray4gm11 - January 27, 2012 via mobile
Your use of the word (then) confuses me.....
No Palmer was not my all Time Hero, he was until his knee injury, I thought his golden arm would take us somewhere I’d never gotten to see with the Bengals. It’s a shame Kimo von Oelhoffen fell on his knee…..we might never of had to have this conversation.
Toasted_Orange_Monster - January 27, 2012
fell on his knee?
HAHAHAHA….. more liked purposely lunged into his knee
Diesel2405 - January 27, 2012
redacted....
I agree….
Toasted_Orange_Monster - January 27, 2012
so what who cares he quit on our team
If we don’t even get paid for rooting and supporting our team that’s never won a Super Bowl been to playoffs five times last 30 yrs and we still show up and support, how the hell do u accept the franchise all time highest paid player quitting on u without a GOODBYE
pray4gm11 - January 27, 2012 via mobile
I dont and never said I did...
Toasted_Orange_Monster - January 27, 2012
Ha ha ha i knew it
Ur quitters biggest fans. Ur hating on a guy that produced and bought energy to a team that nobody cared about. He never got arrested or anything foolish. I see my qb a cry baby azz quiter I might lose focus too. Chad showed up everyday and never said f his team. I’ll NEVER be fan of Palmer. I hope next year Atkins roll over on that other knee.
pray4gm11 - January 27, 2012 via mobile
Didn't know you could buy energy for a team....
Did he buy DP&L and turn the lights on?
Toasted_Orange_Monster - January 27, 2012
I believe he meant brought energy for the team....
The thing is, Chad had fun playing, something that most of the players on our team have never seem to care about and he cared about the team, truly he did. Thats why when games were close to being blacked out he would buy out enough of a portion of tickets so that it wouldnt, then he would give them out into the community and also go on random $1000 shopping sprees with people to buy them gear and food and all kinds of different stuff… He loved the limelight, I agree, but to say he didnt put effort into the team is ridiculous.. He was always one of the first in the locker room and one of the last out, one of the first in studying film and one of the last out. The guy worked hard, he just got older and his body began to deteriorate and noticed that the organization was collapsing and really losing any interest in the team itself. Chad loved the city of cincinnati and i am sure he will still tell u that today and he loved the bengals as well as marvin. The guy, other than his annoying antics just had fun playing the game and always sought to get better, but his body (mainly his ankles and hips, didnt really allow for it. That is the truth.
joecincy07 - January 27, 2012
Lol,
You know, alot of Chad’s production falling could have had to do with Carson not being the same after 2006. I mean Carson bounced back pretty strong in 06 after his knee but Carson play and the oline got worst as well. Lack of a running game in 07 and 08. Carson played what 4 games b4 fitz was thrown in there to pretty much make something out of nothing. TJ was reliable to beat 1 on 1 coverage but Chad was double teamed or bracketted and still made plays. 09 the team went to a running team to keep Carson from getting beat up and made the playoffs. Besides Chad that year who else could Carson throw it too??? Slim got injured? Coles was useless! Caldwell made some plays and Simpson well was Simpson. Chad was the only WR left on our squad in 09 worth anything at the time. If I was a D coach on the other squad guess who I make sure doesnt get the ball… Your acting like it was Chads fault the team didn’t get a championship. When it has been Chad that each year has came in and produced. Not arrested or suspended! Was he a loud mouth yes but that’s who he is… He was a great Bengal all the way till he left…
Dwight Carter - January 27, 2012
I did put a lot on Chad...
But that’s what he wanted…. I agree no Slim, no Housh, no running game, and crap O-line caused most of the issues….but would Andre Johnson let that stop him? Would Randy Moss in his prime be stopped by that? Would Jerry Rice stop being a playmaker? Did Wes Welker give in to being double covered after Brady went down? Its alot of what if’s and who Dunnits but in the end I was never sattisfied with what he gave the team other than stats in a couple of years….. Ask Jerry Rice if he took a year off from the game to have two years in a row like this….

Toasted_Orange_Monster - January 27, 2012
ha ha ha
Trillion dollar ? Which one of ur all time greats won a Super Bowl for us?
pray4gm11 - January 27, 2012 via mobile
if you go back to the stats that palewood put up
Thanks by the way…. I copied and pasted the stats…. And since we haven’t won a super bowl just appeared in two I’ll not bother with trying to explain to you how you how your question makes you look like a retard.
Toasted_Orange_Monster - January 27, 2012
duh
Ur mad at Chad for not winning sb. So either Chad is only Bengal to ever play or ur mad at every Bengal in franchise history. And u the retard boi, how u talking bout stars from the all time leader in every stat for wr on our franchise.
pray4gm11 - January 27, 2012 via mobile
Boi?
really?
Toasted_Orange_Monster - January 27, 2012
Im pretty upset with Palmer as well....
With what he was given and what was at his feet to accomplish, he should have won three SB with Chad….. This article was about Chad though, not Carson or the other players you think I should be mad at……when the article posted talks about the players that have failed or not lived up to expectation is when your argument is valid….find another post
Toasted_Orange_Monster - January 27, 2012
He's past his prime now...
He was a number 2 in 10 and went to #3 or 4 this year with New England. He’s past his prime. As far as the rest. When there time passed them, their numbers went down too. It’s only a matter of time for Welker too!!! Nobody has got this team a SB do you treat everybody like this???
Dwight Carter - January 27, 2012
So your saying not strive to want a SB?
Toasted_Orange_Monster - January 27, 2012
No.
I’m saying I respect what Chad has done for the Bengals as a Bengals WR. He did what he was suppose to, to help get us htere it just never happened… Sounds like you may be a little Jealous that he may get a ring wit the Pats. I think for his career he deserves it!
Dwight Carter - January 27, 2012
Not jealous of him getting one....
Just not getting one with us…As a Bengals….As the player you all love….as the performer who once Donned a fake HOF jacket…. Thats what irks me the most….Why couldn’t he get it while he was here? but …. and Ill say it again…. I don’t think he gave the team a wining chance once he became obsessed with Titter and didn’t want to to work with the team during the off season. To me that’s pulling the card that says I’m better than all of my other teammates and all I care about is ….again in his own words here, “This is one of the first times I’ve been about doing exactly what everyone told me to do. It wasn’t about the numbers. It wasn’t about money. It wasn’t about me.”…….
I think that statement says he did’t care about the team….
So I agree that Chad Johnson was a positive person and a great WR….
But Ocho-Stinko was not.
Toasted_Orange_Monster - January 27, 2012
All that did for him...
Was keep him from getting kicked off the team like Haynesworth did. Chad and BB respect each other. BB is basically doing him a favor right now by keeping him on the team and in return Chad’s basically going to shut the hell up like he’s been doing… That statement he made about this being the first time blah blah blah, it’s the truth! He wanted money, stats, and numbers and guess what he got when he wanted it. All of that. This year since he can’t get money with stats and numbers he better be on his best behavior or get cut… He’s playing the game out there. Saying all the right things. He wants a ring, even if it is riding that pine pony lol!!!
Dwight Carter - January 27, 2012
I loved Chad Johnson but that Ocho guys a different story.
I’ll give Chad props he was a good player and great for the city and fans. I thank him for all he did for us but it’s comments like this that piss me off. He’s just now doing what he’s told and it’s just now about the team? If Chad would have focused more on football the last few years more than his ego he would still be in Cincy and have a chance to put on that real yellow jacket.
Bigcatdaddy - January 27, 2012 via Android app
Bigcatdaddy......Thank you
for seeing my point….I thought I was alone here….
Toasted_Orange_Monster - January 27, 2012
I think...
He woulda been a good # 2 but nobody wanted him and it was his time to move on! You know he coming back to Cincy to retire lol!!!
Dwight Carter - January 27, 2012
Man Chad johnson in his prime as a #2 to AJ??
That is a dream….Shipley flanking him and Gresh over the middle….man what could have been..
Toasted_Orange_Monster - January 27, 2012
@ D Carter
My apologies for lashing out…. it was not my intention… I appreciate talking about the Bengals and I think I can be dogmatic and overwhelming sometimes…. Thanks for being open and discussing with me ..
Toasted_Orange_Monster - January 27, 2012
No worries friend...
Though my knowledge is not as long as some on the site but it does go all the way back to 2003 when i started following the Bengals which just so happens to be when Chad started to become relivant!
Dwight Carter - January 27, 2012
Just read that Greg Cook just died.
Bigcatdaddy - January 27, 2012 via Android app
Very sad....
But at least he got to see Dalton take the reins into a new Bengals era!! Who dey for Greg Cook, Who Dey!!
Toasted_Orange_Monster - January 27, 2012
wish chad luck
grass isn’t always greener and he’s probably cost himself the hall of fame. no way does he get in the hall with less than 13,500 yards receiving. considering his production this season for the pats, he got brady picked more than he scored tds, played a whole 1 play in the playoffs, etc. chad probably won’t be back in NE in 2012 unless he agrees to a massive contract cut.
already seeing a future for chad that looks like moss’ post-pats career, 4-8 teams over the next 2 years, less than a 1000 yards for the rest of his career, then retirement, and no hall of fame. hope, i’m wrong. chad aside from the antics, was great fun in cincy and remains one of my favorite all time bengals WRs.
palewook - January 27, 2012
Chad wouldve had huge year with us this year
Tens time better than any receiver on our team not named AJ
pray4gm11 - January 27, 2012 via mobile

If we would have had chad that wouldve been awesome. He would have been the #1 probably still and there may have been some problems, but maybe not. Maybe he take AJ under his wing and really shows him some tips. Either way, it would have been better than having Simpson, though i am not as much a simpson hater as most might be.
joecincy07 - January 27, 2012
I hope Chad is active for the game.
I hope he makes a big catch or does something important to help them win, and he gets a ring.
Joe Goodberry - January 27, 2012 via Android app
With Gronk hurt...
He may get more time on the field. I honestly want to see him go off this game and dedicate it to his Dad! Epic Win

I agree, I hope chad pulls a David tyree kind of play, (maybe with not the same extravagance and shock since tyree was a nobody) or he catches the last minute winning touchdown (though truthfully i want in no way the patriots to win). Only way i want the Pats to win is for the sake of chad getting a ring and if he makes a huge play towards that win.
joecincy07 - January 27, 2012
I agree completely.
The only way I’ll be happy with a NE win is if Chad is a part of it.
dqniel - January 27, 2012
Chad is the most memorable Bengals receiver of all time.
Collinsworth was special, and A.J. will be if we can afford to keep him. But for a reason to watch the game for even the most casual football fan, OCHO will be remembered by more fans.
keithster - January 27, 2012
Ocho Stinko
I remember when he was one of our Johnson’s,he would live at PBS watching tape,he would go to Indy with CP just to see how Peyton worked with his receivers and low and behold we went to the playoffs everyone knows what happen that night against the squealers.
Then it all changed it was the phone and the HOF jacket and the tweets it all went to his head he couldn’t run a route properly he had his tantrums on the sidelines goodbye thanks for the memories they where few and far between in my opinion we did’nt get a playoff victory and until we do everyone is expendable in my opinion.
oosterling - January 27, 2012
I simply don't understand the Chad hate
Regardless of what you think he was the #1 reason there were butts in the seats and the Bengals were again relevant in the national media. People wanted to see Chad, they wanted to talk to Chad and Chad didn’t just say “hey look at me”, he said “hey look at the Bengals” too.
He consistently took double coverage throughout his career, to include last year. He played through separated shoulders, bad ankles and other injuries. He wanted to win and did what he could to make this team a winner. You cannot say otherwise when you look at his career stats. You don’t get nearly 11,000 yards in your career without doing something right.
Lets also not forget the fact that Chad stayed in Cincy when he had several opportunities to leave. You may not have liked his antics but he never hid his desire for the Bengals to win a SB while he was in stripes and that he wanted to be a part of it. He had one moment of frustration with MB when he asked for a trade. Given the current state of the Bengals at that time and some of the bonehead decisions being made does anyone really blame him? People forget that this team began is slow turn around shortly after that. Ever think Chad’s outburst woke up MB?
I wish Chad the best of luck next weekend and I hope he has a monster game on the biggest stage.
