The 2012 Senior Bowl, a game between NCAA football senior all stars organized into north and south teams, is just a day away, which means we get to sit back and watch some players that could very well end up in Bengals uniform. National Football Post's Wes Bunting recently picked his top-10 Senior Bowl players and picked NFL teams that would be a good fit for them. Two of those top-10 players are picked to be good fits for the Bengals.

The fourth-ranked prospect on the list is North Alabama cornerback Janoris Jenkins, who Bunting believes would be the best fit for the Bengals, Lions or Patriots.
He was simply the most impressive cover man down here this week. Jenkins displays natural fluidity when asked to turn and run, stays low out of his breaks and is a bear to separate from on all levels of the field. Looks like an NFL starter early on in the NFL.
There's no question that Jenkins has great talent and there's also no question that the Bengals need help at the cornerback position, however, Jenkins' off-field troubles are a big red flag. I think I'd rather have a slightly less talented cornerback that wasn't quite as big of a risk.
The other player is the ninth-ranked prospect, Boise State running back Doug Martin, who Bunting believes would be a good fit for the Bengals, Buccaneers or Jets.
Martin isn't a dynamic size/speed guy, but there aren't many negatives to his game. He plays fast, runs low, is natural through the line of scrimmage and has a skill set somewhat similar to former Alabama RB Mark Ingram. He might fall a bit because he doesn't run overly well, but he has the skill set to start in the league.
Actually, the more I hear about Martin, the more I like him. He doesn't seem to have Trent Richardson talent but he seems to be somewhat of a Ray Rice carbon copy and we've all seen what Rice has been able to do in the NFL with the Ravens. The Bengals were unable to effectively run the ball in 2011 and they need a set of fresh legs at the running back position. However, it's my belief that the Bengals also need to draft offensive linemen to help the run game. A player like Martin could possibly fall to the second round which would give the Bengals the time in the first round to find a guard.
What do you think about Bunting's players that could be good fits for the Bengals? Are there any other players on his list you'd rather see in stripes?

If Martin compares to Ray Rice
Who would u say Richardson compares to?
pray4gm11 - January 27, 2012 via mobile
His counterpart... Ingram
Toasted_Orange_Monster - January 27, 2012
Faulty comparisons.
Richardson is more explosive than Martin, but Martin is more Ray Rice than Mark Ingram? Hah.
jsl413 - January 27, 2012
Im not sure I get what you mean?
I was agreeing with martin being similar to Rice… and that Richardson to me compares to what Ingram brings to the table….
Toasted_Orange_Monster - January 27, 2012
If Martin were comparable to Rice, and Richardson to Ingram
Martin would be the top RB in the draft, not Richardson.
jsl413 - January 27, 2012
lol
Him and his crew don’t get it that’s why I ask that? Ray Rice to me is best running back in AFC. And Martin I believe is a litter more explosive.

Wait What did u say?

Would love to see Martin in the third....
If we had to in the second I wouldn’t be upset but would rather get another player on the defense…. and get him in the third. He is a beast I watched some highlights and he plows over people and then still gets the extra yards….
I agree with Jason that the more I read and the more I watch on this kid the more I like him
Toasted_Orange_Monster - January 27, 2012
i'd be happy with martin in the second too
palewook - January 27, 2012
me too
biggie22 - January 27, 2012
Martin will not fall to the third let alone be around in the second when we come to the board. If we dont get a shot at TR or miller in the fist we better think hard about trading up our 2nd round pick.

I'm driving the Janoris Jenkins bandwagon
but with the right coaching staff and locker room these maturity issues could disappear and we could have the best corner in the draft. If not for his run ins with the law he would be taken before claiborne.
GonzoMyk - January 27, 2012
are jenkins or claiborne really Game changers
Or do they look good becuase of there front seven pressure? Just curious I’m not that familur with them
towery10 - January 27, 2012
Doug Martin is definitely a Ray Rice/MJD type
But that worries me. Those two guys are arguably the two best RB’s in the league, but you also don’t see anyone else in that mold being particularly good anywhere else. Darren Sproles is above average at best, Mark ingram is still a question mark, and no one else even really comes to mind. Don’t get me wrong, if you could guarantee that Martin turns into Ray Rice or MJD I’d pick him with our first round pick and I’d pick him a few more times just to make sure we got him. But I feel like shooting for a Ray Rice is a really risky proposition. Safer bet to go with a bigger back or someone with top end speed.

I live in idaho and have watched every game martin has played and I’m not on his band wagon because of that. but because he is a great running back and is very durable and hasn’t got the love because boise state “plays week opponents” TR plays in the sec yes but his ofencive line is amazing. sometimes you just have to take the chance !!!
towery10 - January 27, 2012
I like this guy!!!
All depends on what the Cowboys do at 14 but if he gets passed the cowboys they are going to pull the trigger on Jenkins. Regardless of his past. It’s going on a year and the young man is focused. He realizes what he did and if it wasn’t for the Gator coach being as strict as he was he may have never changed for the better! Fellas the guy is a playmaker “IS THE BEST CONER IN THIS DRAFT!” Now grabbing him at 17 means DeCastro and Trent are off the board… So pending. As far as Martin, this is going to be a tough one. Because of the teams listed he will be gone by the time we pick in the 2nd round so with that said The Bengals may have to make Bengals history in this draft and trade down with somone… I know I know it’s a smart move and unthinkable…. I haven’t worked out the scenario but if they are able to do it to get an early second round pick with a say St. Loius who needs a pick for a talented CB ahead of Detroit who’s mouth is watering for one. We’ll have 2 2nd round picks one to grab Martin early and whoever later in the 2nd round and an extra pick eith this year in the 3rd or 2nd of next year. Giving us 3 2nd round picks next year…. Alright Alright, might be too much lol! But both Jenkins and Martin would be nice to have this year! Were not getting Martin in the 2nd though unless something drastic happens…
Dwight Carter - January 27, 2012
we need him ro basically fucked up to have chance
If he show in next 3 months same skills he displayed at Florida he might sneak into top 10. But I take Barron also in 1st. Only way I take rb in 1st or 2nd is if we get a stud guard in free agency.
pray4gm11 - January 27, 2012 via mobile
Would Jenkins be a reach at 17?
I’m just trying to find out if he goes in the first what pick would be best for him 17 or 21. I know it depends on who’s there at 17.
Bigcatdaddy - January 27, 2012 via Android app
was top 5 pick
If not for getting kicked out of school,u could argue that Jenkins would’ve been first defensive player taken. Was really special at Florida. Haden went top 5 and Jenkins was just as good if not better than Haden.
pray4gm11 - January 27, 2012 via mobile
DeCastro, Jenkins, Martin
That works for me. Might go wr or dt in the 3rd and 4th
M Shop - January 27, 2012 via mobile
DeCastro, Hightower, Pead,Trumaine Johnson
If DeCastro is gone pick Konz.
sofakingood - January 27, 2012
Reasons:
CB is a skilled position and should be addressed in FA via pro experienced players not rookies.
Rey is not the answer at ILB. He hasn’t lived up to his two USC teammates performance when he was billed as the best of the three.. Hightower is the answer at ILB.
While most on this site want Ced gone I disagree to a point. The standard for RB’s is 1000 Yd seasons which he has several for the Bengals inspite of our OL. Give him a decent OL and he will improve, although receiving is subject. I am of the opinion that 1500 yds should be the RB standard. The 1000 standard was established in the Jim Brown days with fewer games and was quite an accomplishment.
Trumaine is a project but has size and necessary skills to improve.

Do u see us going after hightower???

Pray
You don’t know the slightest thing about debating. From one who has been raised in political science all his life (me if you are curious there slick), you have broken almost every code and rule and misused any and all tools of the debating toolbox that are provided for you. To call yourself the best debater is like saying that I shit gold bricks and give them to the poor immigrants like yourself. Face it, you are an idiot!

back on a topic
If nelson stayed on par with his career numbers next 5 yrs do u think he’ll be considered for Hall of Fame?
pray4gm11 - January 27, 2012 via mobile
The more I think about things, this is where I'd go
Assuming MB doesn’t pull the trigger for a stud OG in FA (crossing my fingers he does) then I look to draft a CB (I would stay away from Dennard. He just worries me.) whether that is Jenkins or the kid from South Carolina (that worked out well the first time). I also look to draft DeCastro. After that I package the Bengals second with some later round picks to move up in the 2nd and grab a RB.
As for the remaining picks, I take the best available player no matter position. If Pead is there at RB then you take him regardless of having already taken a RB.
My guess is that Gruden has been given a 1st and Zimmer has been given a 1st. They’ll flip for who gets 17.
