Despite suffering shoulder injury against the Tennessee Titans during the regular season finale, Houston Texans quarterback T.J. Yates is expected to start against the Cincinnati Bengals this Saturday, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle. Yates left the game in the first quarter after a hard hit separated his left shoulder -- non-throwing arm. Head coach Gary Kubiak choose not to put him back in the game, though he could have if he deemed it necessary.

Yates started the final five games this season, completing 61.2% of his passes with a passer rating of 80.7. Though Yates has only three touchdowns this year, two were against the Bengals, the only team he generated 300 yards passing against (117 yards in the fourth quarter alone).
Jake Delhomme, Houston's backup quarterback, replaced Yates last weekend, completing 64.3% of his passes for 211 yards passing and a touchdown.
The Bengals will kickoff this Saturday against the Houston Texans at 4:30 p.m. on NBC.

Two sides of the coin
It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
On one side of the coin, Yates may feel like he can take it to the Bengals and will have confidence from his late game heroics against us. He may feel like he is never out of the game and that puts us at a slight disadvantage since we will have to keep the pedal down the whole game.
On the other side of the coin, we beet him up pretty good last time. If his shoulder is sore and we get the pressure we did last time, he might get jumpy and make some poor decisions.
It could go either way and will be fun to watch. I hope we sack him right away to set the tone.

I hope he's comfortable...
Too comfortable – against us, and thinks he’ll be able to pull it off again. I have a good feeling about this game. Bengals have played fairly well in hostile environments with their backs against the wall.

It's like two 9V Duracell Batteries leaning up on each other. Not good.

Yates is really enjoying that embrace…awkward!

you would too if you know you just got your team into the playoff.

first play of the game
all out blitz and take out yates…we have whooped Delhomme for years…..whodey

I was thinking that too, but..
Delhomme would come in with absolutely ZERO expectations from the crowd. Sometimes a loose QB is the most dangerous.

Defense should be let loose this game.
I want lots of blitzing packages and pressure on this kid.
