With the 35th pick of the 2011 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals replaced their departing franchise quarterback with TCU's Andy Dalton. And with the 152nd pick during the same draft, the Houston Texans selected North Carolina's T.J. Yates, filling out a quarterback roster with Matt Schaub and Matt Leinart. Dalton has started every game this season for the Bengals, compiling a 9-7 record as a starting quarterback and posting the league's fifth-most passing yards by a rookie quarterback since the merger.

Yates on the other hand needed two season-ending injuries to quarterbacks above him on the depth chart. That being said the fifth-round rookie quarterback, though 2-3 in games he's started (including a week 14 win over the Bengals), has been impressive for a rookie that began the season at the bottom of the team's quarterback roster. Though he suffered a shoulder injury during the regular season finale against the Tennessee Titans, Yates is expected to make his first postseason start this weekend.
When Dalton and Yates meet this weekend, it'll be the first time during the Super Bowl era that two rookie quarterbacks will start a postseason game against each other.
The Houston Texans, making their first postseason appearance in franchise history, will host the Cincinnati Bengals, who have qualified for the playoffs in three of the past seven seasons, with a Saturday kickoff at 4:30 p.m. on NBC.

Just bought my tickets...
I’m a grown man, and I have no problem saying I will cry if I see my Bengals win this game in person. I’m gonna go Rex Ryan on them.

Screw all the negativity
Yes we have a bad history, but it hasn’t been all bad. All the reporters that want to talk about the 90’s when this is 2012 can jump off a bridge. This is a new team in a new era. Now the season and what happened in it doesn’t matter. This is a new day and anything can happen. GB barley made it in last year and got hot at the right time. Well now it’s Bengal time baby and alk that bs they shovel out is just fuel for the fire. WHO DEY!!!

3rd postseason in 7 years
Sounds better than 21 years… Why the media goes back that far is beyond me and I find it extremely irritating…. Might as well say the Steelers have won 6 titles in their 78 yrs of existence
WhoDeyTim - January 3, 2012 via mobile
Better yet...
Bengals make the playoffs for the 2nd time in 3 years… :)

Cole on Yahoo:
No. 6 Cincinnati Bengals (9-7)
Flaw: Too darn young
The Bengals are one of the great stories this season as rookies Andy Dalton and A.J. Green have come in to replace Carson Palmer and Chad Ochocinco, respectively, and lead the Bengals to the playoffs. For that reason, there is optimism in Cincy, although owner Mike Brown will find a way to dash it soon enough. However, much like Detroit, Cincinnati’s flaw is obvious: The Bengals struggled against their best competition. The nine wins were against non-playoff teams. The seven losses were against playoff teams. Of course, they have a good shot against damaged Houston, but it’s hard to see much more than a one-and-done.
Unbeliever - January 3, 2012
Bengals are gonna break their playoff win draught in just 4 days
Bengalsfan024 - January 3, 2012
This is a fair analysis actually.
DTFCPDX - January 3, 2012
Houstonians are delusional
I live in Houston – they are acting like getting TJ Yates back after her hurt his shoulder last weekend is a big deal. He is a fifth round pick who has only played a few games
Andre Johnson is a great receiver but has not played in about 10 weeks – even the coach says he can’t play an entire game.
I like Cincy.
The gift wrapped the last one to Houston – don’t think it will happen again
TX Bengal - January 3, 2012
I just wanna see the bengals finish off strong
because we haven’t all year. When we start off fast, we cant seem to finish. And then sometimes we get started too late.
I think its about time we played a full game!
AMAS85 - January 3, 2012
If Yates comes back hurt
He won’t make it through the full game. He thinks it hurt when our defense beat him up last game. He didn’t meet all of them that game. I smell a huge game for Dunlap coming. This is the game he will introduce himself to the rest of the world on national TV.
