Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden is being rumored as a prime candidate for the head coaching position in Jacksonville. NFL Network Insider Albert Breer went so far as to say that Jay Gruden was actually interested, writing, "Gruden told the Jaguars that while he's interested..." However Gruden is offering a very different response.

According to quotes obtained by Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer and Geoff Hobson with Bengals.com, Jay Gruden said:
"I have not heard anything. I’m just sitting here getting everyone out of here," Gruden said on Monday. "I don’t know what’s happening to be honest with you. I don’t know if I’m ready. I’m just dealing with the season that came to an end and whatever happens, happens. I got a couple texts from people that heard I was a candidate for the job but I haven’t heard anything otherwise. I don’t know exactly how it works. I’ll probably find shortly if it is true."
We don't doubt Breer's report that Gruden said he was interested, especially if the Jaguars asked that Gruden not make public comments until they're ready to either make an announcement or provide an update. Regardless do we really trust coaches to speak on their futures?
During his first year as the team's offensive coordinator, the Bengals offense finished 20th in the NFL and 18th in scoring.

would hope the intial reports are inaccurate
or the jags will face a tampering case at nfl headquarters if they sign gruden

They will face more then that
He is not a head coach, sorry dude. Your offense was below average and predictable. Not a fan of this guy.

He's the best OC to put on a Bengal uniform sense Bruce Coslet

dunno
1 season isn’t enough for me to decide on that.

Which is just slightly better then Bratkowski’s offense
Diesel2405 - January 9, 2012
Except that Brat had years of stability to get there
Gruden had 2 rookies, 2 young guys, and no offseason.
Jury is still out IMO.

That said
Jaguars would be stupid to hire him. He’s very much green and unproven.

Agree with both of your points

i hate to point this out BUT
think about the stats Green would have if Palmer was throwing some of those deep balls… I think he would have similar numbers to Moss’s rookie year.
AMAS85 - January 9, 2012
Yea but think of all the
Pick sixes……yuck
Helmsy - January 9, 2012
Palmer would take 7 steps back
and throw it as far as he can and it would probably hit AJ in stride. Palmer’s deep passes is still his strong suit.
AMAS85 - January 9, 2012
Oh no doubt
I’m not arguing that….His other strong suit is throwing picks
Helmsy - January 9, 2012
I've though that all season
But with our horrible guard play Palmer would’ve been dead ;-)

and a short preseason

Why is Wesley from the Princess Bride standing next to Andy Dalton in that picture?
ephram - January 9, 2012
It is what it is
It’s probably not a big loss if he leaves. It’s just one year. Dalton can start anew with another coordinator. Just don’t bring Bratworski back.

IMO good news
I hope its true,i dont wanna ever see this guy in any uniform other than ours
