The good thing about talking about the upcoming draft is it's exciting for Bengals fans because the team has two first-round picks and these are exciting times for a franchise that overachieved in 2011 with some very talented and young players. The bad thing is that with a mock draft coming out almost every single day, many of them say we do the same thing.
The Bengals need help at cornerback, running back, guard, safety and wide receiver. With the exception of wide receiver, every mock draft we've reported on has them taking a players of two of these positions in the first round. This one is no different.

SB Nation's Mocking the Draft pumped out a Valentine's Day mock draft, and in the first round, they predict the Bengals take a cornerback and a guard. Boring.
With the No. 17 overall pick, MTD thinks the Bengals grab North Alabama cornerback Janoris Jenkins. I don't think I need to tell you how I feel about this pick (since I've done it like 10 times), but in case you're new to the site, I don't like it. Jenkins has too many off-field problems and after watching Jerome Simpson get busted with like a million pounds of weed and after hearing about Rey Maualuga's bar fight, I have no desire to see another young problem child in a Bengals uniform.
Then with the No. 21 overall pick, MTD says the Bengals take Georgia guard Cordy Glenn. Glenn is this draft class' second-best guard after Stanford's David DeCastro and the Bengals definitely need help at guard. With Bobbie Williams, Nate Livings and Mike McGlynn all hitting free agency on March 13, and due to the fact that only Williams is worth re-signing to a short deal, the Bengals definitely need to address the position.
So, Bengals fans, what do you think about this draft? Let me guess, you feel the same way about this one as you did the last one?

Meh........
would just be ok for first round. Feel same way about Jenkins, could be a stud or could be out of the league in a couple years….am mixed on Glenn too, tough to get excited about taking the #2 G prospect in the first round. DeCastro/Kirkpatrick is what I’m really hoping for……..
The Van Buren Boys - February 15, 2012
+1
that combo would really set the draft up good!
Christian Gaarde Nielsen - February 15, 2012
No...... Jenkins is a boom/bust/arrested canidate
Glenn is all right but i dont see a drafted rookie having much of an impact. need to get atleast one gaurd in FA.
Biggest needs here are G / CB / S / they keep getting the positions right but the players wrong.
Bengalsfan024 - February 15, 2012
What about Dline in your list?
Three UFAs and Sims saying he wants to test the market?
It’s as big a need as any given the possible losses plus it’s lackluster play in playoff time, the month of December.
Actually I don’t believe Jenkins goes stripes. Too much drama. I think the Bengals fix CB in FA.
BENGALS69 - February 15, 2012
I would like those first two picks
I know janoris has some off the field issues but I think cordy will be just fine in the league. He is massive as we all know and went up against better competition than decastro had to face week in and week out. But I really don’t think you can go wrong with either of those guards
cincybengals - February 15, 2012
If they sign a guard in FA
I dont see them drafting a guard in the 1st. Even if DeCastro is there.

Janoris Jenkins would be an absolute steal at 17.
Let our coaches decide if his “BS” is behind him and if he’s worthy of a 2nd chance.
I personally think that after he got kicked out of FLA. he learned his lesson
He is a “shutdown” flypaper corner and would no doubt be top ten if it weren’t
for the “off-field” stuff.
He could be as good or better than Claiborne if given a chance.
gratefulmax - February 15, 2012
He might be as good as Joe Haden
But he’s been busted for pot twice in the last year and has been arrested for fighting over jewelry. It wouldn’t be just a 2nd chance.
Do we need a new “Pacman?”
Evil Monkey - February 15, 2012
As TE's starting becoming more and more invovled in offenses thanks to NE success.
a 5’10" cornerback will get abused all day long
Bengalsfan024 - February 15, 2012
"after watching Jerome Simpson get busted with like a million pounds of weed"
isn’t that a bit drastic?
I think you maybe getting Jerome confused with Hurd.
I think the NFL and the government in general have more problems to worry about then someone recreational use of a drug that is no worse than cigs or alcohol. IMO
AMAS85 - February 15, 2012
less worse than cigs or alcohol.
“million pounds of weed”
theres a mental image i can enjoy
Bengalsfan024 - February 15, 2012
well its worth a hell of a lot more than a million pounds of gold lol
AMAS85 - February 15, 2012
Gold is at $1700 an ounce lol.
I’d trade pot for gold ounce for ounce ALL DAY LONG.
Luke - February 15, 2012
wow i didn't realize gold went up that much, i know a few years back it was a different story
AMAS85 - February 15, 2012
If I've said it once I've said it a million times.............F#&% T#& M#&%#! F&%$!%# F@#'s

im not sure what your trying to articulate

98% of ALL COLLEGE KIDS TRY SOME SORT OF RECREATIONAL DRUG OR TWO!!!
Unless u was a nerd and couldn’t get laid. Lotion must been most of u guys best friends in college. If u went to a college u know how the athletes get down…
pray4gm11 - February 15, 2012 via mobile
drugs arent the problem
being dumb enough to get caught with them is…
Bengalsfan024 - February 15, 2012
i can agree to that! but we still don't know the full story.
AMAS85 - February 15, 2012
Some players when they get caught get a break some don’t. U only here about certain players that’s using drugs. Everybody’s using them so why we don’t hear about the other group of players? It could be they don’t go searching when they hear bout it…
pray4gm11 - February 15, 2012 via mobile
Or because they don't get arrested for possession?
Luke - February 15, 2012
Let's be fair
I was a nerd and I got laid and knew “how to get down”. Don’t hate.
mightwhales - February 15, 2012
lol but have you ever gotten down while on drugs?
“http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57DdviStOFo” target=“new”
AMAS85 - February 15, 2012
LMAO
Dwight Carter - February 15, 2012
It's not the drugs thats the problem
It’s the message it sends to kids. Also, Decastro at 17. Jeffery at 21.
SoCalTexan - February 15, 2012
What message? Why u think ncaa don’t have mandatory drug test? Because Everybody would be ineligible and they wouldn’t make any money.
pray4gm11 - February 15, 2012 via mobile
yea i definately think the goverment is sendint the wrong message witht his whole "war on drugs" thing
AMAS85 - February 15, 2012
plus its easier for kids to get a hold of weed than cigs and alcohol because itsn't regulated.
AMAS85 - February 15, 2012
Word is Jeffery is overweight and running a 4.88 40.
Cry - February 15, 2012
off topic
When the rb back from uc got caught breaking into dorms, on other sites he was blasted for being stupid and needs to be sent back to ghetto for ruining his life. Now when Steve Chabbot son got arrested for breaking and entering and pulling fire alarm on this same site where uc player got blasted, they wanted the editor to take story down people were commenting why they trying embarrass this kid he just a young man who made a mistake blah blah blah.
pray4gm11 - February 15, 2012 via mobile
I love Jenkins
But I have doubts about him on this team.
We have no leaders on this defense. Typically your leader is the MLB but Rey has his own issues. Whitworth is a mediator type leader. When you have no true leaders you don’t have the luxury of taking a chance with guys like him.
Look at Jimmy Smith of the Ravens. He was considered a top 10 draft pick but because of off-the field issues he dropped. The Ravens picked him up and he will most likely be a pro bowler within the next couple years.
They have that luxury because they have guys like Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs to lead the defense and keep the young guys on track. Thus Jenkins would most likely flourish on that team. I would love for us to draft him but I think it would be a huge mistake.
Yarin - February 15, 2012
Here is the beauty with us drafting Jenkins...
You would be correct that the Bengals have no stand up leaders… but both Ray Lewis and Suggs will be gone in a few years. While someone on our Defense steps and takes the reins as a leader and still have a young talented defense!!!
