If you're like many of us, we eat, sleep, dream about Bengals football. Hell I'm pretty confident that a majority of you take your smart phones to the bathroom, fire up your SB Nation mobile app and read about the going-on with the Bengals while clogging the bathroom (however you want to approach that word usage is up to you). You can't stay disconnected, you awesomely-conditioned Bengals fan you. If realizing after reading that statement that you were unaware that we have a mobile app, then we absolutely do (Android, iPhone).
Perhaps you're stirring in your bed, wondering who the Bengals will draft (Joe Goodberry), whether or not the Bengals will be active in free agency and if the Bengals will succumb to the ridiculous urgency to draft a running back in the first round (Josh Kirkendall).
Either way, bring your Mr. Sandman hatin' stories to the insomniac (overnight) open thread.

Why Devon Still for us? ( and who is Devon Still)?
FrankWyt - February 20, 2012
he is one of the better DT coming out
i figured Casey Hampton maybe on his way out and it may be the time to replace him. Thats a steal if he falls that far.
AMAS85 - February 20, 2012
You are right, Hampton probably is on his way out, and not only is Still good, but he is the cousin of a Steeler legend (Levon Kirkland) But I just can’t see him falling that far. (that said, my draft prediction record rivals Mel Kipers for futility.
FrankWyt - February 20, 2012
yea one trade will change everything in the draft
but i have a question for you. How many players do the steelers need to cut to get under the cap?
I heard you guys maybe losing a few key veterans.
AMAS85 - February 20, 2012
Possibly none. Considering that they were 22 million over, and now it’s like 7-10 over. The only players that were cut were Arnez Battle and McFadden. Two players who were basically screen doors on the Steelers submarine.
If Ben and Wood restructure, that could possibly be enough to be somewhere near even (Ike Taylor’s restructure saved us 6.5 million alone) Then when the players I anticipate getting cut (Kemoatu, Smith, Hampton ( if he doesn’t have too much dead money) and those three alone are enough to sign most of the rookies. I’m fairly confident that the guys that get cut and save us money, are going to be guys who should be cut. Some team may drive up the price on Wallace to the point that we can’t keep him, but that to me, seems like the worst case scenario, and that’s not even that bad (in my opinion)
FrankWyt - February 20, 2012
Possibly none??
You say that then name 3 players that (could be cut). I did a little looking onto to crapburg cap situation and they look to be about 13.3 million over with the possibility to move a whopping 506 thousand from last years cap to this years. If that’s done it makes 12.8 million. If they choose to tag Wallace it will cost 9.4 for WR this season but they could just tenure him with 2. 7 or .8 and a 1st rnd pick. I hope someone comes along and offers 3 mill, just enough to make them pay a little more. You didn’t mention Ward or what they were going to do about 3 UFA QB’s.
Bigcatdaddy - February 20, 2012 via Android app
where did you see 13.5? As far as I know the three restructures saved around 15 or 16 million, so that would put us six or seven over right now
Yes, possibly none will need to get cut just for that reason. There will be people cut, but I don’t believe we are going to have to get rid of someone we didn’t already want gone. And I really really really doubt Wallace gets tagged.
The QB’s you mentioned, I’m almost positive Dixon will be gone, Batch is probably retiring (or at least should) and I’m not sure about Leftwich, because of his injuries. I’d like to keep Leftwich because he’s the only back-up I trust. We just signed Troy Smith for some reason, so that’s why I’m sure Dixon is gone. Either way, none of those qb’s cost more than 1million.
As far as Ward, your guess is as good as mine. He will need to take a sizable pay cut, or he’ll be gone.
Smith and Hampton could be gone too as I’ve said, and that’s a huge chunk of change.
FrankWyt - February 20, 2012
who is Devon Still?!?!
Arguably the best DT prospect in this draft… ah.. you’re the Steelers fan. Smokescreen?
indesignkat - February 20, 2012
lol right
when I was going through the mock situations, there are a few DTs that could fall pretty far and maybe one in the second that would be a steal for us.
AMAS85 - February 20, 2012
Lol, It was a joke. Obviously no one at our site expects him to be available for us, so he doesn’t get talked about.
FrankWyt - February 20, 2012
i can see that
i seen him going as early as the 9th pick.
AMAS85 - February 20, 2012
I gotta tell ya man, I hope your pick is correct. But I don’t try to guess who we are going to take, they never do what I think. (or, what other Steelers fans think for that matter)
Cam Heyward last year? Yeah..that’s the last thing I expected. But after fuming about it for a few minutes, I thought about it…it was a smart pick. Pressure makes CB’s look better.
FrankWyt - February 20, 2012
Blackmon is not a #2 draft pick
steve henderson - February 20, 2012
in most drafts he may not be considered a 2 pick overall, but if his skills are as good as they say they are
he would be a great option for Sam bradford. Its about time they start building the team around him. They may actually trade down to get an extra pick and still have the opportunity to get Blackmon
AMAS85 - February 20, 2012
Browns or Skins ??
Bigcatdaddy - February 20, 2012 via Android app
Rams
just because the browns and redskins show a lot of interest in RGIII
AMAS85 - February 20, 2012
Yeah I know who SB plays for
I was just saying you though the Rams could trade down. The Browns and Skins would be game because they both want RG3 and Blackmon would still be there. Perfect trade for both teams involved.
Bigcatdaddy - February 20, 2012 via Android app
Why? Blackmon seems almost as much of a sure thing as Luck to me.
FrankWyt - February 20, 2012
it makes sense to me, give the Bradford the best option at WR
AMAS85 - February 20, 2012
That is exactly what I thought. Bradford NEEDS a receiver. Blackmon to me is the best out there.
I don’t bet, but if I did, I’d put money on Blackmon being a star. Just something about him….
I totally agree with your pick, and think the Rams will too.
FrankWyt - February 20, 2012
I'm ready
for everything: the combine, the Draft, FA, Rookie Camp, Mini Camp/OTA’s…. Whatever. Bring it all on. Let’s go! Who dey?!
whodeycommish14 - February 19, 2012 via iPhone app
It's getting to the point where it's become a problem.
I check this site far too often for my own good. BRING ON FREE AGENCY.
johnson_cody_18 - February 19, 2012
+1
Im ready to see who we pick up and how much money were are actually going to spend.
AMAS85 - February 19, 2012
Same here.
How much do you think they’ll end up leaving on the table for 2013 AMAS?
whodeycommish14 - February 19, 2012 via mobile
around $20 to $25 million
AMAS85 - February 19, 2012
Yeah....
My buddy asked the same thing to me Friday night. I said 20 mill. Between our own, the market, and the draft, 20 mill sounds about right.
whodeycommish14 - February 19, 2012 via mobile
yea, im thinking they will spend only as much as they have to.
The bengals front office is sitting pretty right now because they have their core players under their rookie contract or have been resigned already. And I know the bengals don’t like to spend money if they don’t have to.
I hope they do what ever they can to keep Reggie.
AMAS85 - February 19, 2012
Right.
They certainly are. I just hope Mikey keeps listening to those little birdies (Katie, Troy, Marvin,etc..) in his ear and not getting head strong about the money and the extra picks.
whodeycommish14 - February 19, 2012 via mobile
I still think that leaves a good amount of money to upgrade this team.
I just hope they can get at least a couple game changers through the draft and free agency.
EPK1979 - February 20, 2012
+10000
I hear ya hoss. It’s bad. I check on here way too much, but it’s a good problem in my eyes hahaha.
whodeycommish14 - February 19, 2012 via mobile
Question:
what do you mean by, “if the Bengals will succumb to the ridiculous urgency to draft a running back in the first round”?
Do you oppose the idea of trading up or don’t think a RB isn’t worth a first round pick?
AMAS85 - February 19, 2012
Hopefully a scenario of the Bengals trading down comes about.
I think this draft is loaded at positions that we can really use the help at. If Richardson isn’t there at 17, I would actually like to trade down and pick up an extra pick. Doug Martin or Lamar Miller sounds better late 1st or 2nd round than reaching for them at 17 or 21.
EPK1979 - February 20, 2012
The app sucks
Unless it’s been fixed. I downloaded it, set cincy jungle as my page, and it still showed whatever stories it wanted from al sbnation boards.
indesignkat - February 19, 2012
I've got the iPhone app
and it loads the the main SBNation page, but I select “Lineup” at the bottom and then Cincy Jungle from the ones I’ve added to my lineup
Don’t know about the Droid app
Oregonbengalsfan - February 19, 2012
Droid app is great
I don’t even go to the web page anymore. The only problem I’ve encountered is it forces close and sometimes it will post a comment in the wrong place which has caused a problem with an oversensitive reader once. It’s not often so all in all it’s pretty sweet.
Bigcatdaddy - February 20, 2012 via Android app
I use it on an iPod touch
and it seems I get more Seahawks stories than anything else.
indesignkat - February 20, 2012
Indesigncat
You should be able to choose which stories to follow. Somewhere on there it should give you the option to choose from sports, teams, blogs. CJ is under blogs of course and if chose just CJ maybe it’s giving you seahawks stories by default. Try choosing more teams and blogs to follow and it may get rid of the unwanted stories. I choose all the AFCN teams and a few other teams I follow like UK, Reds, and Spurs. They also have a blog dedicated just to mock drafts I think it’s called mocking the draft listed under blogs. Good luck

tbarber64 - February 20, 2012
HTC makes great phones
I have a HTC mytouch 4g and it’s the best yet. I can even hook it up to my tv as a monitor and use a bluetooth key board and don’t even have to touch my phone. It even has a built in hotspot so I can run my PS3 or any other wifi capable gadget off it.
