This is it. Today the New England Patriots and the New York Giants, representing New York City and the Boston area, take the field in Indianapolis for the last football game of the 2011-2012 season. At the end of the game, one of the two will be crowned world champions. The Super Bowl is, year in and year out, the biggest television even of the year and has the pageantry of every Hollywood red-carpet event wrapped up into one to the point that sometimes the last thing people think when the words Super Bowl are mentioned is football.
We'll see commercials that are more like 90 second blockbuster movies and probably cost almost as much. We'll see a pre-game ceremony, a ridiculous halftime show and, if we're lucky, we'll see a good game too. If the Giants and Patriots can give us a repeat of Super Bowl XLII or their Week 9 game (both of which the Giants barely won), I don't think any of us would complain.
So, consider this your one-stop shop for everything Super Bowl. Talk about the game, talk about halftime, talk about the commercials, talk about the pre-game show. After this day, the offseason officially begins so soak it up.
Happy Super Bowl Sunday.

Bengals in 2012...
and 2013, and 2014, and 2015…
TCfromDubVee - February 5, 2012
zzzz....
Anyone else have zero intrest in this game? I will watch becuase it’s football, but deep down, I don’t really care what the outcome of this game is.
Ochocinco - February 5, 2012
and the commercials
dont forget the commercials, its like having 30 plus mini shows during commercial breaks through out game.
AMAS85 - February 5, 2012
Last year was a game I had zero interest
in simply because of the teams involved. This is different. These are two teams I wished the Bengals modeled themselves after. The best QB of our generation playing on the biggest stage is always special to see. The storylines have been natural and not forced like Big Ben’s Redemption bullshit last year or the Favre cloud. Two cities that don’t like each other. Two teams that have recent issues against each other. I’m firmly behind the Patriots tonight out of personal spite towards certain Giants fans and I suppose I’d like to see Ocho get a ring, even if it comes in the manner in which he has gone about it. Unlike most people, I’m not sensing a classic. We’re long overdue for a “blow out” and I think it happens here, one way or another. I’m taking the Pats over Giants 27-13.
KSE - February 5, 2012
last year I had an interest in the game
an interest to see the Steelers lose…I didnt want to hear about their damn rings all summer…..
ticalcaldwell - February 5, 2012
exactly
only reason why i watched. had baltimore made it over new england, i probably would’ve watched simply to see the ratbirds lose.
Doc Scratch - February 5, 2012
yep.
i may not even watch at all, depending on if I have other plans right now.
Doc Scratch - February 5, 2012
It’s going to be a repeat of ‘07 (by which I mean I won’t be watching)
touchofhysteria - February 5, 2012
that 07 game was an awesome game
I am not fans of either team and I want the Giants to win because I am tired of the Pats….just tired of Brady and tired of the perennial SB team….I wish it was the Bengals vs the 49rs……how bout that for a repeat of an old Superbowl…..whodey
ticalcaldwell - February 5, 2012
I just want to watch
Brady and their coach lose hopefully…. I am never really a fan of a New York team winning in any sport, but in this case it is better than the other guys winning their 4th… I am a little worried about the Giants being overconfident, including their website.
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
Will never understand
the pointless hatred for Brady. People act like he’s been convicted of felonies, alleged of sexual assaults and other heinous crimes. The worst thing you can say about Brady is that he wears women’s boots.
KSE - February 5, 2012
It's the underdog roll
I pull for the underdog in 90%.of sports I watch except when my fav is favored.
Bigcatdaddy - February 5, 2012 via Android app
Pats are marginal favorites in Vegas.
Media is hugely behind Giants. It’s a weird game. Everyone is riding the Giants.
KSE - February 5, 2012
any player or team that wins all the time
is going to have people start to root against them… they don’’t have to do anything wrong off the field. Just the way it is.
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
meant that as a reply to KSE
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
Funny stuff!
There’s a video on you tube called shit people in cincinnati say. It’s freakn hilarious. I can’t post the link but if you get a chance check it out.
Bigcatdaddy - February 5, 2012 via Android app
Things like this are why I hate the Patriots
Player cut day before Super Bowl
emeybee - February 5, 2012
Yeah I wonder what the point of cutting him the day before was
Oregonbengalsfan - February 5, 2012
They brought a defensive guy up from the practice squad
But still, shitty move. That PS guy better play a LOT.
emeybee - February 5, 2012
Hey Tom Brady watched the Super Bowl last year
on an illegal stream
Oregonbengalsfan - February 5, 2012
Had to share this with you guys
Last night me and the old lady went on a double date with one of her friends. We get in the car and and ask my girlfriends friends boyfriend (we’ll call him Carson) if he liked the Bengals. He said no he doesn’t watch the NFL. I was like wtf. So I asked Carson do you watch college football he said no he doesn’t like football at all. Needless to say it was a very boring night filled with me reading Cincy Jungle on my phone and not being very social at all. I don’t think we will be going back out with them.
Helmsy - February 5, 2012
Hah! What kind of a man doesn't like football???
I was talking to a Raider fan yesterday evening (had my Bengals hat and hoodie on) and he said something about taking our quarterback. I told him he can have Pick 6 Palmer. He became a bit more subdued then. LOL!
Oregonbengalsfan - February 5, 2012
Haha
Idk what kinda man he was but I assume he likes flowers and things like that. What makes it even funnier is at the restaurant there was a guy sitting next to us who had a Bengals hat and I had a Bengals shirt on and we taled for about 10 min about this season and who we want to draft. Lol
Helmsy - February 5, 2012
Pats stole our song.
Reason #239 to hate them.
Just kidding.
emeybee - February 5, 2012
Okay Kelly
Let’s remember the words
emeybee - February 5, 2012
You guys planning to stick around, or is everyone partying tonight?
I’m just sitting at home with my family for this one, so I’ll be around.
sexsalad - February 5, 2012
me too
gotta be at work at 4 am
joeb69 - February 5, 2012
I have to be at work at 10pm pacific
Sucks doesn’t it.
But yeah, I’ll be here too.
emeybee - February 5, 2012
no matter who wins, someone I really like gets a ring.
If the Pats win, Chad gets a ring. If the Giants win, Moeller grad Greg Jones gets a ring.
sexsalad - February 5, 2012
I want to see vintage Chad
Ballin. Circus grabs. Toe tappin on the sideline.
n8dogg - February 5, 2012
Two teams playing whose colors are red and blue, in a stadium where the home team's color is blue.
And they cover Lucas Oil in Steelers colors.
It’s making me nauseous.
emeybee - February 5, 2012
That flag was like 5 minutes late
emeybee - February 5, 2012
I was wondering where the flag was
Guess the refs decided they better flag Tom for that one since it was so obvious… Who was he throwing to? The ref in the middle of the field?
Oregonbengalsfan - February 5, 2012
Ha ha
Did someone hit me? Nah.
emeybee - February 5, 2012
Wow what a break for the Giants
that the Patriots had 12 men on the field
Oregonbengalsfan - February 5, 2012
Game time
now or never for the pats
keithp - February 5, 2012
defender coulda gone 100 the other way
if he hadn’t run by the ball…
occams_tiger_teeth - February 5, 2012
Exactly
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
Manning is 9 for 9
could not have been a better start for NY
occams_tiger_teeth - February 5, 2012
Is that Chad up top, or Branch?
emeybee - February 5, 2012
It was nice of Branch to run across the middle and answer my question.
emeybee - February 5, 2012
lol, wasn't sure where Branch came from
joeb69 - February 5, 2012
I'd like to see a turnover here
dont want to see a blowout
keithp - February 5, 2012
Chad's in!
…and doesn’t get the ball
emeybee - February 5, 2012
That was a "Oh no Brady is losing" penalty
emeybee - February 5, 2012
Let's see another safety
Oregonbengalsfan - February 5, 2012
ugh that TD sucked
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
Why are the bengals never in any NFL commercials :(
Tampa_Bengal - February 5, 2012
Felt like the Giants dominated
But really the saftey is where they scored all there points, its going to be a great second half
keithp - February 5, 2012
Giants seem
to hurt themselves with that last holding penalty when they were moving… also a too many men in the huddle led to a punt…
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
I agree
all the penalties for both teams were huge
keithp - February 5, 2012
I guess they're saving secret-weapon-Chad til the 2nd half.
emeybee - February 5, 2012
It is all dink and dunk
doubt they will throw deep
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
I was being sarcastic
Talking heads were saying that Chad was being saved for this game and would suddenly be a big part of the game plan.
emeybee - February 5, 2012
gotta cover every angle, lol
there is 2 weeks to talk about everything.
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
i cant believe,he cant even get a dink or dunk somewhere
he must just be taking a cb out of the play
keithp - February 5, 2012
to much pressure,it will be a play action if anyone get deep
keithp - February 5, 2012
This woman is 53 years old.

“loading…”

occams_tiger_teeth - February 5, 2012

emeybee - February 5, 2012
Giants can not lose Pierre Paul
Injuries are killing them
emeybee - February 5, 2012
Thank you Hynoski
That would have been terrible
emeybee - February 5, 2012
wow huge recovery
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
that was Bengal playcalling
2nd and 10 from the 12… run play.
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
Ha ha!
That was crazy!
emeybee - February 5, 2012
Time for Bradshaw to go to the locker room
emeybee - February 5, 2012
big 3rd down coming
Can’t give them the Pats the ball back at midfield.
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
Big penalty
emeybee - February 5, 2012
I would love to see Ochocinco
catch the winning TD.
occams_tiger_teeth - February 5, 2012
That movie looked good!
Oregonbengalsfan - February 5, 2012 via iPhone app
that is 2 tight ends out
may have to come in with a loose one.
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
Crazy catch there by Cruz
emeybee - February 5, 2012
I want a Cruz!
TCfromDubVee - February 5, 2012
would be a 55 yard field goal from here
would you try it?
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
no
I would rarely kick in these situations. I’d rather go for on 4th.
occams_tiger_teeth - February 5, 2012
Might as well have saved the TO
Lost 5 anyway
emeybee - February 5, 2012
better play some D
got only 1 left
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
Terrible no call
emeybee - February 5, 2012
Yep
got jobbed.
occams_tiger_teeth - February 5, 2012
Giants got screwed there
Mexal - February 5, 2012
Hopefully they'll get a makeup call when it matters
emeybee - February 5, 2012
Big 3rd down here
emeybee - February 5, 2012
Damn
emeybee - February 5, 2012
damn
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
Giants gettn beat up
All that mouth, and look at him, gettn knocked around
keithp - February 5, 2012
Both defenses are bending an awful lot
the whole game is dink & dunk — I really dislike this style of play with 85% completions but nothing longer than 20 yards.
occams_tiger_teeth - February 5, 2012
only way to beat the pressure
keithp - February 5, 2012
they may run the clock out
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
dink,dink,dink
down the field…
occams_tiger_teeth - February 5, 2012
Yep
For a close game it hasn’t been very exciting
emeybee - February 5, 2012
the downside of this is if New England gets stopped about here
the Giants have time to use the clock up themselves and kick a field goal for the win.
occams_tiger_teeth - February 5, 2012
gotta do it right here
stop them
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
Okay, now THIS is a big play
Giants need a stop
emeybee - February 5, 2012
yes
time for Manning to do it again.
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
NICE!
emeybee - February 5, 2012
Giants can chew up the rest of the clock
and win it … this will be the least exciting last-second game in Super Bowl history.
occams_tiger_teeth - February 5, 2012
They did that just for you.
emeybee - February 5, 2012
about time somebody went deep!
occams_tiger_teeth - February 5, 2012
but if they score "too quick"
that might turn out to be not so good…
occams_tiger_teeth - February 5, 2012
Make up your mind ;-)
emeybee - February 5, 2012
MANNINGHAM!!!!!
emeybee - February 5, 2012
Wow
feet are in?
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
I think so
emeybee - February 5, 2012
i think that is a good catch
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
Confimed!
Nice.
emeybee - February 5, 2012
We need to get manningham in cincy
bnglsfan - February 5, 2012 via mobile
He doesn't run very good routes
emeybee - February 5, 2012
He’s been a beast in this game doing it on the biggest stage of the game I’d take him
bnglsfan - February 5, 2012 via mobile
Both of Tynes' kicks have been close
Makes me nervous
emeybee - February 5, 2012
i was thinking the same thing!
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
there's never been a kicker
I’d want to rely on except maybe Vinitieri
occams_tiger_teeth - February 5, 2012
and a bad snap
against SF on the overtime kick. And a high one on the last FG.
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
if they get one more 1st down
can run it down
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
and that challenge
might turn out to have been a case of “why not” being a bad idea. The Pats are going to want to start using their timeouts now.
occams_tiger_teeth - February 5, 2012
Pats will use their time outs now
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
Oh jesus he better hold on
emeybee - February 5, 2012
fumbled a couple already today
they just got super lucky on those
occams_tiger_teeth - February 5, 2012
Hence why he better hold on
emeybee - February 5, 2012
We got a game fellas
Bigcatdaddy - February 5, 2012 via Android app
Pats fans are saying if they lose it is a failed season
I think they’ve been taking lessons from Bengals fans on how to never be happy.
emeybee - February 5, 2012
they have very high standards
and who can blame them.
occams_tiger_teeth - February 5, 2012
Players and coaches should have high standards
Fans should be able to appreciate a winning season regardless of how it ends.
emeybee - February 5, 2012
HUGE first down there
emeybee - February 5, 2012
now run it twice
and make the Pats use their last time outs.
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
then kick a FG
with 15 seconds or so.
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
76 is hurt now too
Brutal game for Giants
emeybee - February 5, 2012
For such a close game, this is boring as shit.
sexsalad - February 5, 2012
+1
emeybee - February 5, 2012
I think they just let him score the td
if he was smart he’d have stopped before going in!
occams_tiger_teeth - February 5, 2012
wow, using that timeout on the challenge
they got one left now instead of two, Giants can run it down to near zero and kick.
occams_tiger_teeth - February 5, 2012
wow the let him score play
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
Alright, now they let him score.
Smart play by NE. Dumb play by Bradshaw.
sexsalad - February 5, 2012
true
but what if you fall down at the 1, and blow the kick.
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
Take a knee at the one inch line and trust that you're able to run the clock down then score it.
sexsalad - February 5, 2012
it's an extra point from there
95% or more probability in your favor.
Giving Brady 1 minute? Is that a 5% chance of losing? If so, then he made a mistake.
occams_tiger_teeth - February 5, 2012
Even the touchdown was boring
Let him in.
emeybee - February 5, 2012
That was weird
It was like he was trying to stop himself and then just said fuck it.
emeybee - February 5, 2012
Pats have 60 seconds and one timeout
If Brady gets it done he deserves all the praise
occams_tiger_teeth - February 5, 2012
well they can't dink and dunk now...
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
It may finally be Ocho Cinco time
emeybee - February 5, 2012
And if it isn't
If they NEED to throw deep and still don’t throw to him, then wow.
emeybee - February 5, 2012
Well
This is a little exciting now I guess.
emeybee - February 5, 2012
wow wide open
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
As long as the Giants win
I’m kind of glad the Pats get a chance to win it and don’t get it done. Tarnishes some of the “legacy”.
emeybee - February 5, 2012
1 more play
at least tackle them inbounds.
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
or not
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
Hey
Penalties don’t get you any time back. Put ALL the players on the field.
emeybee - February 5, 2012
true!
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
GIANTS WIN THE SUPER BOWL!!!
emeybee - February 5, 2012
whoa
that was close on that last play!!!!!
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
Alright, that was a pretty good game.
sexsalad - February 5, 2012
Bad game
Good last 2 minutes.
emeybee - February 5, 2012
yeah I thought it was pretty boring
lots of luck too (fumbles not recovered by the other guys in particular)… makes it seem pretty random.
occams_tiger_teeth - February 5, 2012
I mean, it was worth watching.
Got exciting near the end.
sexsalad - February 5, 2012
Well we can all agree
next year will be MUCH more exciting when the Bengals are playing. Who Dey.
emeybee - February 5, 2012
I thought it was a great game
Throw the ball - February 5, 2012
Now....
…will Eli actually smile and look enthusiastic for once?
emeybee - February 5, 2012
So close
My prediction was 21 – 20 Giants
Oregonbengalsfan - February 5, 2012
Manning is not the best
but he is Mr. Clutch,
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
big play was
missing the Welker connection down the seam on the next to last drive.
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
And also Hernandez not catching that other one where he was wide open
emeybee - February 5, 2012
I guess this does show Brady is not that magical
which is a good thing.
occams_tiger_teeth - February 5, 2012
So whos up for getting Manningham in FA
Green, Manningham, Shipley, Gresham, and a new RB + Dalton=
2013 SB CHAMPS!
pendragon13 - February 5, 2012
Not consistent enough
Throw the ball - February 5, 2012
I agree, Manningham is not consistent
enough and would not be an upgrade over Simpson.
pemci - February 6, 2012
So I guess Coughlin's not getting fired afterall
emeybee - February 5, 2012
Coughlin has some red ears
emeybee - February 5, 2012
Eli is almost sort of smiling
And it looks like it pains him
emeybee - February 5, 2012
I still remember the Giants
at 6-6 and down 12 points with 6 minutes to play against Dallas….. just shows the parity in the league….
txbengal29 - February 5, 2012
Off-season!
Time to build a champion here in Cincy!
Cincinnati222 - February 5, 2012 via mobile

Bigcatdaddy - February 5, 2012 via Android app
If one damn 9-7 team can win the Super Bowl, so can we.
Doc Scratch - February 5, 2012
We need to learn how to play in big games
Giants understand that, we don’t. Starts with our HC.
Mexal - February 6, 2012
A Few Takes on Superbowl as it Applies to Bengals
Just a few quick thoughts on the Superbowl. Brady and Manning are about as clutch as it gets. Great game. What I was thinking watching the closing moments of the game were:
A) We were so close to hiring Tom Coughlin (not that I think Marvin’s doing a bad job).
B) Look how important number two receivers are.
C) You have to have a really clutch QB to win those types of games (and Carson Palmer was not that guy). Remains to be seen whether or not Dalton is.
D) Critical calls mean all the difference. Giants overcame the Patriots Brady / Bellichik mistique by having several key calls go against them yet they still won. Phantom hold on the one drive reminded me of the call against Whitworth against the Steelers. Boothe did not hold. Hopefully, if we start winning consistently, we start getting the types of calls the Patriots and Steelers typically get.
MikePF - February 6, 2012
Ain't it funny when referees actually call penalties?
The pats had 2 penalties called against them vs. the Broncos
The pats had 1 penalty called against them vs. the Ravens
(both games were played in NE)
The pats had 5 penalties called against them vs. the Giants
I am not sure if the safety is counted in those 5 penalties, that was A BIG call to make. It was the right call, but it took b@lls by that crew to actually make that call..I could easily see it as being not called for one bs reason or another….
