4 months ago: INDIANAPOLIS, IN - JANUARY 31: NBC studio analyst and Sports Illustrated write Peter King looks on during the Super Bowl XLVI Broadcasters Press Conference at the Super Bowl XLVI Media Canter in the J.W. The venerable Peter King with Sports Illustrated published his final Monday Morning Quarterback of the football season, including his final-15 of the 2011 NFL season; a ranking of the best 15 teams from his perspective. Obviously the top two teams are going to be the Super Bowl participants from last night with unsurprising Giants claiming first. Moving down the list and you broaden the teams by including those that made the playoffs, with those eliminated later in the postseason generating higher rankings.

As one should expect, every team that made the playoffs earned a spot in King's rankings, with the Denver Broncos ranked 11th as the final playoff team. Wait. Aren't there 12 playoff teams every year? Well, yes my intelligent little buddy. Any guesses on the one team that was missed?
Of course it's the Bengals. You expected something more realistic, changing trends of a laughable organization gaining respect for earning two playoff berths in the past three seasons? Ranked ahead of the Cincinnati Bengals includes four squads that failed to make the playoffs entirely: The Philadelphia Eagles, Arizona Cardinals, San Diego Chargers and Miami Dolphins (who finished the season 6-10). Maybe the Bengals just need to win a Super Bowl to find a home in King's top-15 list at the end of the year. And we suspect the team would still rank outside the top ten.

wow
what a crock. Although, the most surprising thing is that he didn’t have the Cowboys ranked above the Bengals. Now that the Super Bowl is over the oddsmakers should be announcing Dallas as a top 3 team in chance to win the Super Bowl next year.

Couldn't believe he had the Dolphins and Cardinals ahead of us
Especially as we beat the Cardinals and they still lack a QB. So dumb. But I hardly ever read anything by Peter King anymore because I find nothing he says to be credible.
Mexal - February 6, 2012
He most definitely plays favorites
Helmsy - February 6, 2012
si clearly (as always)
pushes an agenda
palewook - February 6, 2012
yeah
The Tebow stories are killing me….They talked about him half the day yesterday…..wow….I just dont get the Tebow thing…
ticalcaldwell - February 6, 2012
You are not the only one....
pemci - February 6, 2012
Thats ridiculous
I was really peeved when I read this this morning. Then I realized we may be going in to next season as the underdogs again and I’d much rather be the underdogs than the favorites heading into a season. But seriously how can the Tebows make the list at 11 and we can’t even get into the top 15. C’mon man thats just stupid.
Helmsy - February 6, 2012
oh yeah
and for making that much money you would think he knows how to brush his darn teeth…yuck
ticalcaldwell - February 6, 2012
Jordan Shipley
Anyone know how Jordan Shipley’s rehab is going? on pace to be at training camp?
Lawrence Tyler Larson - February 6, 2012
Last I read he was doing well and on pace....
pemci - February 6, 2012
I read the same....
As crappy as it was to lose him last year thank god it was in the second game of the season, he’s now had tons of time to be ready and healthy for training camp
Toasted_Orange_Monster - February 6, 2012
Muckeroy is on pace as well
to parapharse a quote from marvin…
All players are on pace to be available by training camp

Peter King
I will never forget when Leinart got hurt in Texas and King, off the top of his f———g head says ….there is a chance that Farve could come to the Texans….he had nothing to support this…just a “you never know” statement…..Guy kills me….I dont know why he is such an authority figure in sports….guy is garbage
ticalcaldwell - February 6, 2012
Miami, Denver and Arizona ahead of us
yeah…..solid list
ticalcaldwell - February 6, 2012
king is who with thought he was.
and will remain so.
palewook - February 6, 2012
his smile in this picture screams "punch me in the face!!!"
What a tool

Well duh
I mean why would a playoff team that finished 9-7, have two players in the running for Rookie of the Year, have more money than anyone in the league to spend in free agency, and have 5 picks in the first two days of the draft including 2 first rounders be any good next year? It’s called SCIENCE and Peter King is the CHIEF SCIENTIST.

Peter=Dick!
Bigcatdaddy - February 6, 2012 via Android app
Actually ....
Richard = Dick……
But I agree Peter = Small Weiner
Toasted_Orange_Monster - February 6, 2012
hahahahaha
Helmsy - February 6, 2012
I think we need a caption contest for Small Weiner
Toasted_Orange_Monster - February 6, 2012
I mean Peter King...
Toasted_Orange_Monster - February 6, 2012
First off
King is a douche and needs to get his head checked. Second, Marvin Lewis needs to take Dalton and Green getting hardly any respect in ROY voting, other writers dumb analyst that make these same assessments and make it into one big motivational platter
EPK1979 - February 6, 2012 via mobile
They arent getting any credit
And the Bengals need to plaster all this crap on the walls so they are constantly reminded of it. Maybe it will make the players to dig a little deeper to prove these so called experts wrong.
EPK1979 - February 6, 2012 via mobile
lol king has miami at 15
perhaps that has to do with miami having the 16th largest tv market in the usa.
palewook - February 6, 2012
Peter King is a f'n idiot.
One thing i’ll never forget is last year before the season started he said the Bengals would go 0-16, and we made the playoffs and that probably really made him look like a jackass. This guy has to be the BIGGEST Bengal basher in all of sports. This guy is by far the dumbest sports guy in all of football and he should lose his job.
Bengal4ever - February 6, 2012
man i though i posted this for a second...
I hate peter king.. and am really happy he doesnt write about our bengals cause then i might have to read it..
Same peter king who said bengals at best in 2011 would be 2-14 0-16 at worse.
his draft boards are always horrible and his power rankings dont make any sense ever..
WTF is wrong why cant i get paid to know nothing about football?
Bengalsfan024 - February 6, 2012
Hahahahahahahaha
If it were anyone else but King, I’d raise my eyebrows in surprise. I’ve never seen someone hold a grudge against something so long as King has on the Bengals.
The Brown family must have served him cold oatmeal and runny eggs while he covered the team. Maybe he and Mikey went after the same lady and King lost out.
How this guy writes for the largest sports publication in the US and is on national television every week during the NFL season is beyond me.
Anthony Cosenza - February 6, 2012
No Leon Hall
Bengals drop because Hall went down. Compare the Bengals with Hall and without Hall. Losing Hall was the defining factor why the Bengals had such a poor finish.
Chili Dog - February 6, 2012
come on
Is it really shocking that a former Bengals employee doesn’t like the team? That hardly puts him in a minority.
I’m not defending him, but the idea of wondering what happened is silly. He worked for the Bengals. That’s what happened.
indesignkat - February 6, 2012
well
with, whatever. I don’t remember if he actually worked for them or were just assigned to them by the local paper. Some direct connection.
indesignkat - February 6, 2012
King didn't work for the Bengals
He was the Bengals (and NFL) beat reporter for the Enquirer in the early 80’s.
Who dey in LA - February 7, 2012
Peter King > Mike Florio
Peter king is bad but Mike Florio is the ultimate Bengal Hater
cincybengals - February 6, 2012
As of today the Bengals are back in the hunt. WHO DEY!!
Bigcatdaddy - February 6, 2012 via Android app
Go Bengals!!!
Anyone know if Leon Hall will recover from injury? Will Hall be back next season?
Chili Dog - February 6, 2012
I doubt it
Achilles injuries generally take 12 months to return after an achilles tear though about 2/3rds of players who do tear their achilles never come back and the ones that do are significantly less effective. Add in that Hall plays a position that requires a lot of agility and you can pretty much count him out for the 2012 season.
Mexal - February 6, 2012
Wow, messed that comment up. But you get the idea.
Mexal - February 6, 2012
yup
palewook - February 6, 2012
R Kelly and A Odom came back in less than 1 year
Bengalsfan024 - February 6, 2012
How did that work out?
Mexal - February 6, 2012
he should be back by the beginning of the season i would think
Bengalsfan024 - February 6, 2012
Even if we won the Super Bowl...
He would call it a fluke and put the Patriots, Steelers, and Ravens ahead of us (not to mention the AFC)…
balooko31 - February 6, 2012
What do you expect?
And its kind of sad that anything this fat-ass says or writes is worth a post of its own.
